In November I attempted to move to London. Some things went horribly wrong and I found myself jumping between hostel rooms for almost two weeks. St. Christopher's Village was my home base during this time, and I am so grateful for the experience that I had there. First, I wanted to say that the staff are FANTASTIC. Super friendly, very...

Wow, just wow. We are so pleased you found your way to our hostels on Borough High Street. It definitely sounds like you took full advantage of our central location and facilities for guests, which is nice to hear. Also thank you for all the kind words about the staff and hostel itself, we will make sure and pass them...

I had my bank card stolen in Spain the day before arriving in London. I only realised it was gone when I got to the airport. When I got to this hostel I told them what had happened and that I had to wait a few hours until the money from my normal bank account transferred to my emergency bank...

I had mistakenly booked the wrong date which was no problem at all. :) The rooms are standard hostelrooms. What's awesome about the place is the 2 pubs. Definitely a place for social people. The also offer a free walking tour and a funny pub crawl.

Nice staff, clean bathrooms and rooms. Great location. The one thing that I didnt like was that they didn`t have towels and I counting on renting then and the room was really hot, only one window in the big room with 22 beds. Another thing, they say they have laundry but they don`t!

Stayed here a while ago, staff were amazing, really helpful. Good location close to the city and good transport links. Belushi's bar next door was a good night out and the hostel farly clean and well maintained. Can't complain really!

Stayed for two nights I booked online and when notice it was cheaper I got a refund. Rooms very warm and clean the noise level was quite unbelievable quite the best sleep in years. Friendly staff in bar bit confusing at breakfast time when you want a cooked breakfast but lovely.

Pros of this hostel: clean beds, 24/7 service available, wifi, location, warm showers, breakfast (toast, cornflakes, coffee, juice etc) and good lockers to put your stuff in. Cons: not the friendliest of service (maybe too busy or understaffed) also at the belushi's bar, nasty bathroom (puke), 10 euro deposit for 1 towel, don't provide transformers for non UK tourists (had...

My friends and I just left this hostel. It was the first hostel that we stayed in on our Eurotrip from Canada. We all loved it! The staff were so fun, and Cami threw great parties on the patio. Everyone we met was really nice. I loved that it had a bar attached. We really felt comfortable here! The lockers...

If you really don't want to sleep, and don't mind cattle-type conditions for your bathing rituals, stay here! No lift! Free sauna in communal areas! Drunk French men invading your bed at 4am! TWO WHOLE POWERPOINTS FOR EIGHT PEOPLE. NO WIFI IN THE ROOMS! Windows overlooking what seems to be London's loudest and busiest street! (Even with earplugs, no sleep...

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
