A return visit to the hotel, reception staff helpful, room service good but bar staff left something to be desired. This is a great hotel, especially at weekends and closer to the west end than you might think. Good sized rooms especially if you pay a bit more for the Club rooms.

If you need anything, just ask! Offering rooms with 2 full double beds swayed my decision to book over the likes of Park plaza, Doubletree et al, plus it offered better value. The location is really good, as are the standards and cleanliness throughout the hotel, service was very good and the staff were great with my daughter. Happy girl...

This hotel is quite good for London. Rooms are clean. Staff is well prepared and friendly. The best part of this hotel is the location. Right across the street from Blackfriars and there is a Tesco right on the block. Ate twice at the Voltaire Italian restaurant and it was simply excellent. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast is traditional British. My...

We had the pleasure of having an afternoon tea at the Voltaire Cocktail Bar at The Crown Plaza London to help celebrate my wife's birthday. From the time we arrived no request was denied, as I have a problem with my back and it is difficult for me to sit on a bench so Rozalia moved a huge chair so...

The reception and guest staff have become more important than the guests. It used to be a real friendly welcome. We asked if we could have a view and were upgraded to a club room, without the benefits, the view was Sainsbury's Local. We had paid for a superior room anyway. The room was very dark and even with all...

The location of the hotel is ideal, close to the Thames . 20 minutes walk to London Eye also walkable to St. Paul's cathedral. Blackfriars tube station is opposite. Also the train station is 2 minutes walk. We took the train back to Gatwick airport, 40 minutes. Basic room with no special view from the window and comfortable bed. Breakfast...

I was very much looking forward to our stay in this hotel as it looks grand and has a great location. Unfortunately it wasn't a memorable stay and I would think twice booking again. The location is brilliant - no arguments there! You can walk along southbank and visit Borough Market, see London Bridge and explore the pubs on Fleet...

Me and my girlfriend spent two nights in this hotel in early January. When choosing the hotel, we thought that it would be good, because we already stayed in a few Crowne Plaza hotels and it was perfect. But this time, it was the worst experience we ever had! The check-in was very fast (almost too fast), but the room...

Stayed overnight Saturday into Sunday to go to see Kinky Boots at the theatre. Arrived early(10am) and expected to leave our bags at the hotel and be given our room later, however were told that there was a room available straight away which was great. We were also allowed a later check out (1400hrs). This was a lovely gesture and...

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
