Like staying with a fab friend who happens to live in the best part of town. The owners attention to detail with the room is unequalled and the desire to help point you in the direction of great local services and attractions unparalleled. Like a home away from home but with better linen.

My daughter and I recently stayed at The Main House for a week and thought it was great! We stayed on the top floor which was like a private apartment. The bedroom and sitting room were quite spacious and comfortable. The bathroom while small, was manageable and recently updated. The vintage property is well maintained, the rooms were clean, nicely...

We recently spent 9 days at The Main House. What a treat - everything exceeded our expectations. Caroline was a dream host, full of suggestions for things to do in the area. Our rooms were beautifully spacious, tastefully decorated and well appointed. A luxurious bed and linens, a lovely lounge area for reading and relaxing, and large bathroom.. We felt...

Quirky and elegant, the Main House reflects the personality of its owner, Caroline. Decorated with treasures from Portabello Rd and travels abroad, it has the warmth of the family home it is and offers an experience more unique than that of more slick hotels. Doors may not close or lock and the lovely aged floor boards creak, the little tv...

We stayed here for nine nights, arriving October 13, 2015. The owner, Caroline, is very helpful and efficient with the reservations, and once there, she makes it her responsibility for you to have a good stay in London. Her Victorian house is two blocks from Portobello market, which is a fun street market on Fridays and Saturdays. Bus # 23...

We spent a delightful ten days in the spacious and comfortable top floor suite at The Main House. Could not have enjoyed it more. The Minimalist/antique decor was congruent with our taste. Bedroom and bath met all expectations and standards. The sitting room was a wonderful space for morning coffee or a restful night after a full day of sightseeing....

I found The Main House on line and began correspondence with the owner, Caroline, months before our trip. She was prompt to respond and a wealth of information. Upon arrival, she was there to greet us with smiles and her big and brassy personality. She lives in the house and her door is often open. If it is not, you...

The charm of Caroline and Nottinghill. When you arrive, you will be greeted by the owner Caroline and her beautiful shepherd. Her warmth, sincerity, and expert advice goes a long way. Caroline knows London! Where to go, eat, and how to get there is at her fingertips. Our room was spotless, and the bathroom large. The bus stop was one...

We really enjoyed our stay, very spacious rooms and great add ons, like a local handy with UK sim card, it even had a few pounds left on it, a thank you from the previous guest, so we left some on for the next one. Helpful advice on where to go and how to get there from the ever bubbly...

What a hidden gem, tucked away in the streets of Knotting Hill. The Main House is an amazing value hidden among the locals. Caroline herself, is like having a personal tour guide of London. Her knowledge and recommendations were FANTASIC. Although we were sad to leave, we cannot wait to visit Caroline in the Main House again. Lisa, Christine, Meredith...

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
