Perfect position near Tate Modern and a funky place to eat, drink and stay. Had great fun with mood lighting - a veritable disco while I was showering, courtesy of the worse half. Not cheap but beats the standard London hotel. Casual bar and restaurant made for a relaxed but special Valentines Day evening.

Stayed for a few nights and enjoyed the uniqueness of the place. All staff were really good and a credit to the hotel. Breakfast was good, but long wait for a coffee - this needs to be rethought. Bedroom is compact but user friendly... The pillows definitely weren't friendly.... Hard, odd shaped....didn't sleep well

hi Simon thank you for the review. Delighted that the team looked after you and that your stay was good. apologies if you had to wait longer than usual for your coffee. The idea at canteenM, whether it's breakfast or lunch, is that you order your coffee, grab a snack and then collect the drink on your way to the...

As in most major touristic cities, rooms are small, but at Citizen M, they try to use the space in in optimal way. The bed is wall to wall, so your sleeping comfort is great. Bathroom and closet are compact but very clean. Everything is very modern. Everything from lights to TV, wake-up call, shutters, whatever... is controlled through a...

Loved everything about it. Fr its location on Southwark in walking distance from our offices to the automated check-in, friendly staff (!), and small but tasteful rooms. Great bar, and breakfast tops it off. New favourite for over night stays in London.

A great hotel for the business stay - good facilities, break out areas and fantastic team of staff. Sadly becoming more popular, with lots of tourists, so seeing rates increase dramatically, which will surely see business travellers rate caps of £200/£225 being hit. Look forward to the Tower Hill opening soon. Stephen

Last minute booking took me to this place for the first time and i just loved the concept of this Hotel. Room are very comfortable and not that small with every gadget a man could need. The hotel is ten minutes walk from London Bridge station and a similar distance from Tate Modern, The Globe etc. A very modern hotel with comfortable public spaces, a well frequented bar and high tech room facilities. The staff are friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good with reasonable choice, and there are nice touches like free movies. We paid...

Really funky hotel, loved it. The room was hi-tech and uber cool and had everything I needed. The public areas like the bar and reception were great to hang and breakfast was good value. Great location!! I will stay there again.

I stayed here for two nights, I enjoyed the atmosphere, the architecture; in the room you use iPad for the lights, the tv, the radio and the curtains. I suggest you to wake up with the Alarm Jungle (really very funny). Also at the bar there's a friendly ambience.

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
