If you are looking for an affordable option in a very well located area in Central London (Marylebone), Travelodge makes the trick.
Nothing fancy but it works for a quick sleep. Bed is quite comfortable.
We spent a night at the hotel on a visit to London to attend a family party. Our welcome was excellent and the room clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay at this Travelodge again and would recommend it.
Stayed here in April for 2 nights. The hotel was central to everything we wanted to do and was close enough to Paddington station for us to walk (although there was a tube station right outside). The room wasn't noisy at night and we had...More
Ideal location, plenty of places to eat nearby and an excellent facility. Very friendly staff and the room was well appointed and clean. Marylebone Underground Station is within yards of the hotel main entrance giving excellent access to the entire city.

Okay, so the room was cheap for London and yes, I had understood it was single occupancy, but I hadn't expected to be competing with Harry Potter for the smallest room size! Didn't think hotels even had single-bedded bedrooms these days!
So, the room was...More

Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it
from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.

We found the area to be quite busy with shops and eating places. The travelodge is directly across from Marylebone station which is no problem at all. The noise at night with traffic could be a problem if you are a light sleeper. We have stayed here at least three times and usually no problems, the last time though was very noisy with lots of people standing outside the sports bar across the road -the noise seemed to reverberate all around. Just to point out though that we have never had that before and we assumed it was because it was the night Mo Farrah was running in the Olympics.
As far as safety goes we have never had a problem but then we don't really stay out late at night I would say just take the usual precautions as you would in any strange area. If you are wanting to stay out late and travel back to this travelodge the bus stops around the corner and you also have the underground right across so shouldn't be any issues.

"The pub outside the tube station can be noisy yat night and bad if you are a light sleeper."
