Firstly, the B&B is only a short 15min train ride from Victoria to Penge East. Handily, you can use the station at the other end of the road (New Beckenham) that goes to London Bridge and can also change at Lewisham for DLR connections, so it is well placed for frequent transport links into the centre of London for exploring....

Very clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast cooked to order and good. Great value compared to hotels in central London. I would stay there again during another visit to London. It is a short walk to Penge East railway station which is 15 minutes from Victoria by train. There are very good bus and underground connections at Victoria

We booked a room via Booking.com. My son & I were attending a weekend course in Paddington. The guest house is in a residential street with free parking both on the drive of the property & in the side roads. The owner met us at the door, showed us our room and which key fitted which lock. She was very...

We arrived with four people at night when the Check in Times were Long due. But Frances, the wonderful Owner, had prepared everything, so We could get into our room without any problems. The room was big, with a nice bathroom. Both were clean and comfortable. The beds were very cosy and the breakfast is incredible! You get everything from...

We loved our stay at the Melrose House. The room we had was lovely and quaint. The staff was friendly and it was not too far of a walk from the closest train station at Penge East (about 10 min). The only negative we had about the stay was the breakfast. The hot breakfast was greasy and the smell of...

My husband and I stayed two nights at Melrose House as we needed to be close to Penge to visit family. The rooms are clean, comfortable, functional and equipped. The breakfast is good with hot cooked options but the kitchen area is like a sauna which no one seems worried about (we had n the balcony doors, twice, to let...

Wonderful family run b&b which is convenient for London but away from the hussle and bustle. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the room spacious, clean and comfortable. Really fantastic breakfast which catered well for vegetarians. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Will certainly be back.

Frances and her sons provided a lovely, welcoming stay at Melrose. The guest rooms are detached from the main house, and are within a garden setting. This provided a very private and unique B&B experience. Frances was a delightful hostess and was extremely accommodating to our needs. We arrived around 8:30 in the morning, after having traveled by train through...

It was my fourth time at Melrose House, this time we spent 5 nights in an attic room. It was great as always with comfortable beds in a nice room and with wonderful English breakfast served every morning. Even if Penge is in zone 4 you walk down from Melrose House only few minutes to arrive to Penge East Station...

This review is my second one for Melrose House, but the first one was in 2009. I therefore think that I can write "review number two" without criticism from the powers-that-be at TripAdvisor. I've just completed spending fifteen nights as a guest at Melrose House. I wouldn't have returned, of course, unless I'd experienced a pleasant stay the first time....

“Really not sure which room is my favourite, Room 3 has a 4 poster bed, Room 2 is the only room without an ensuite, but is a lovely big room with a full size bathroom across the hall for the exclusive use of this room, bathrobe provided. Room 6 is lovely with a juliet balcony over looking the conservatory, this was the original dining room. Room 10 has its own private sitting room The garden rooms in the Annex 8 and 9 are really pleasant and over look the courtyard garden with seating which is lovely to sit out in on a pleasant summer evening. These rooms have recently had their shower areas upgraded.”
