Great stay. Clean, comfortable beds, good breakfast, and very conveniently located -- near British Museum, bus and tube links. I'm 65 and did not mind doing without some of the usual hotel amenities -- en suite bathroom, elevators and an in-room television. The communal bathrooms are spotless, the stairs are OK if one doesn't have heavy luggage, and there is...

Ideal for what I wanted for a night out in London. Very close, walking distance, from Covent Garden and Leicester Square. Comfortable and clean room, very nice breakfast. Very homely feel. There was however shared bathrooms, which didn't bother me, no TV in the room and no lift which can be a struggle if like me you are on the...

This hotel is placed in a nice quiet area but close at hand for London attractions. It's a basic hotel, no frills or luxuries. I wouldn't stay here again as it's too basic for my tastes. Breakfast was great and staff were friendly. Decor is tired and worn but rooms were comfy and clean. The whole place is in desperate...

I recently met up with a friend from Canada who was visiting London for a conference. He was staying here and suggested I did too so we could maximize our time together. This is classic old style English middle class accommodation. Good but not fancy. I recommend the rooms with a garden view. Visit the small library to read newspapers....

Back in the 1970s I lived in a nurses' home (for Gt Ormond St) opposite the Penn Club in Bedford Place. We would walk past in our caps and starched caps at 7am and often wonder exactly what it was. It was many years later that I discovered it to be the most perfect place for a stay in London...

This is a lovely 'club' which has a wonderful old-fashioned feel. It's a little tired and there's no lift - but you're warned of that when you arrive. My room wasn't en suite, but I didn't mind because there are plenty of facilities nearby and it made it a little cheaper. There's a lovely quiet lounge to relax in and...

This place is not swanky or posh: it is quiet, friendly and peaceful, with lovely staff and a great breakfast. Ask for a room that backs on to the lovely garden square. [19 is lovely]. there is a library with books, games and all the newspapers and free tea and coffee all day.

This is a quiet place, based on Quaker congeniality, where you can easily get to the rest of London off the Tube or on a bus. It is within a short walk to the British Museum, which is why I like to stay here.

The location is great if you like Bloomsbury, and I do. The club is located on a reasonably quiet street by Russell Square. It is discreet and old-fashioned, in fact most of the members seem to be older, single gentlemen. The membership factor gives a sense that hotel-type guests are transient and perhaps somewhat translucent - the service given was...

This is a special place to stay. I feel so safe there and it's great for lone travellers too. Easy walk of Euston station and tube stations nearby, together with all the attractions of the local area. No TV in the bedrooms, which makes for a peaceful stay, though there is a TV lounge if you do want to watch....

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
