Only a few steps from Cambridge Heath Station and Bethnal Green Metro, in the East London area, Mama is waiting for you. More than just a place to sleep, Mama Shelter is a place of life, where people gather around dishes meant to be shared, prepared by Mama. Enjoy the comforts of home in one of the 194 rooms, each equipped with 5-star bedding, a smart TV and free on-demand movies. Each room is air-conditioned and has a private bathroom. In the restaurant, enjoy Mama's homemade dishes and her cocktails on the terrace or in the bar. A La Carte breakfast is served every morning. Mama has even thought of business travelers with its 2 atypical meeting rooms, the Ateliers, which are ideal for seminars or any other event. Ideally located, Mama Shelter London is half a mile from both Shoreditch High Street and Victoria Park and less than 4 miles from most of London’s key attractions such as Tower Bridge, Tate Modern & The London Eye.

We stayed at Mama Shelter London Shoreditch to (re)discover central London.
The hotel is located in a nice quiet neighborhood.
The flower market on Sunday is definitely recommended.
The metro is a 10-minute walk away and a bus stops right in front of the door.
Upon entering, we immediately noticed the distinctive interior that was extended throughout the entire hotel.
We opted for the Medium Mama room and it was really spacious and neat. The nice thing about the room was that it also had a sitting area.
The room was on the side of the hotel and was not affected by street noise. Unfortunately, noise from the hallway sometimes comes through the single door.
One small thing we expected for the higher price was paper tissues.
When we showered in the morning there was barely any water coming out of the shower. In the evening it was strangely okay.
The check-in went smoothly and friendly.
Only when I asked about the welcome drink that All Silver Members receive, I received a somewhat strange response that they no longer did this, but I eventually received a voucher.
We always received friendly help from the staff during our stay.
The breakfast was extensive and relatively well stocked.
However, what disappointed us enormously is that we had to pay extra for a cappuccino.
We also did not find hot chocolate milk, but we did not ask for it again for fear that this would also require an additional charge.
We can only recommend the Sunday roast available in the restaurant.
We will certainly consider this hotel again on our next visit to London.

The mama shelter is an excellent stay in the heart of one of Londons cultural centres. Minutes from the Shoreditch and Brick lane artistic, vintage and curry locales, including Brick lane bagel. You also have Whitechapel market, the vagina museum and V&A young peoples museum.
Direct buses to Victoria and Oxford Street are directly outside the hotel. And you can easily reach Hackney.
The rooms include singles with full length of room mirror, small and medium doubles and large double rooms. Our favourites were small doubles as these either had large bedrooms or extra living space. The hotel also has family rooms, adjoining rooms and triples.
Breakfast is full and nutritious and is continental in style. You can still have full English but mama advises yoghurt, cheese, pancakes with Nutella and pastries with coffee.
Membership of disloyalty loyalty scheme entitles you to a free coffee everyday, discounts on food and stays. And you can double up with Accor Live Limitless to earn airmiles, loyalty and points.
During our stay we appreciated the help of Melody, Ciara and Heman. And Matteo (both of them), the cleaners especially and the night crew who always handed out free mineral and sparkling water.
Our critique would be we would like more sofa and lounging space, a better wine menu, as the cocktail menu is better. And vegan sausages and bacon instead of meat. Every room is a shower and the gym is compact but useful.
As a resident, we were crying out for Mama Residents karaoke nights, but the hotel did organise an Easter egg hunt.
The clientele includes creative workers, sports people, skaters, families, British and European, business workers and couples seeking to use Mama Shelters “couples night time package” including masks, vibrating bullets, condoms, lines and even a maids outfit. The TVs have a range of films and movies including adult films.
The hotel has a laundry service for ÂŁ6 a wash which we found very useful.
Finally every room has a set of masks for children to play in or for adult play.
Sleeping was excellent on the beds. Although on valentines night we were kept awake by a “multiple peak” of the couple next door.
We also saw many functions and parties, the game stations in constant use and lots of parties; stag and hen. The environment is lively and changing. With weekdays seeing more laid back. And weekends begin more lively and full of persons celebrating many different life events.

Hearty breakfast, 13 minutes from London main station. Lovely staff. Little corner of Tasmia. However, the beds are small and the shower water does not have too much power. The atmosphere of the Mama shelter is still there so stay validated.

Our stay at Mama Shelter Shoreditch was underwhelming to say the least. I booked a twin room for a friend and I at a fixed rate so paid at the time of booking. It was not made clear during the booking process that fixed rates were not amendable nor refundable upon cancellation, regardless of notice given so when our friend had to move the date of her birthday celebration to the Saturday, I wasn’t hopeful that the hotel would be able to accommodate a change but Hamish, a reservation agent very kindly agreed to do so, subject to my paying additional monies on check in as the rate for a Saturday was more expensive. On arrival, I was almost charged the full amount again and when I told the receptionist I had already paid the full amount for the Friday, I just had to pay the difference and showed her the email from reservations confirming as much, she took my phone from me and disappeared out the back. I thought this was quite peculiar as if it required management attention, I would have expected them to come to the desk and not have my personal phone taken from me.
When we got to the room, whilst it looked nice enough, I was surprised to find there was no wardrobe, there was a peg with some hangers by the window but the space was obscured by a worktop meaning that you couldn’t really hang anything long there like a maxi dress or jumpsuit. The beds were small but comfortable but the table and benches next to one of the beds made it feel quite crowded. There was also a kettle with some tea and coffee and a small fridge and a decent hairdryer but no iron/ironing board which would have been good.
We both slept well and found the room to be quiet and a good temperature. The check out time is also a very reasonable 12pm although I had to call to obtain this information is it is nowhere to be found on the website. So I took the opportunity to have a slow and leisurely morning before checking out. Later that afternoon I realised that I had left my iPhone charger plugged in at the side of the bed and emailed the hotel to ask if it would be possible to have it sent to my home address if I covered the postage. I didn’t get a response to my email by the following morning so called the hotel and spoke to Nicholas who asked if they had confirmed to me that they had found my charger, I told him that I had had no response to my email at all but that I had definitely left it plugged in beside the bed as the hotel was the only place that I had used it. He checked the system and nonchalantly said we have no record of a charger being found so nothing we can do. So if you stay here, please be very careful to make sure that you do NOT leave anything behind as if you do, it’s likely you will not see it again.
Overall our stay was comfortable and the downstairs looked good but I think the hotel is more style over substance and I have had much better experiences for the same kind of price point in other hotels in London.

This hotel is located in South/East London 30 minutes from the centre.
A bus stop (55 and 26) is located just outside the hotel.
The Aerial Metro is a 2-minute walk from the hotel.
The reception keeps your luggage if you arrive too early and/or if you still want to do some shopping after clearing your room.
The rooms are spacious. The decoration and layout is minimalist.
The room is maintained daily.
The decoration of the restaurant is surprising (black ceiling with lots of drawings and texts in neon).
Breakfast is hearty and varied and of good quality. Coffee and tea are free, but other drinks are charged for, such as hot chocolate.
Regarding the restaurant menu, it is quite small and may not be to everyone's taste.
We will return to this hotel if we return to London, for its price, its location, the friendliness of the staff and the layout of these common and private spaces.

Very good customer service, staff are always nice and they always acquire to my needs no matter the problem.
Rooms are always clean there are no complaints in that section.
Smart tv available which a lot of hotels in that price range don’t have so you’re able to watch movies with your partner and listen to whatever music of your choice
Breakfast is also very nice will definitely be coming back.

On arrival I was greeted by the friendly staff at the check in desk, they made me feel very welcome. My room was very comfortable clean bedding and pillows, variable lighting and lamps, tea facilities and the room had very good soundproofing to aid a good nights sleep. I was so impressed that I made a second return here and had a wonderful breakfast in the morning so much choice. Thank you all at mama shelter for making my stay happy fun comfortable and relaxed.

How has this HĂ´tel scored so highly?
It tries. So hard.
But ultimately it’s Style over any substance, unfortunately.
-Staff are wonderful. Truely- they are.
-But bad public toilet disinfectant smell as you better lobby.
- I had a room that is one up from smallest- a double. You can just shout open the bathroom door without banging bed frame, it’s more like a cabin or caravan feel. There is no space for a suitcase so you need to shove your vase under the bed. Bed is a little hard.
- food very average.
- best thing about this place is staff- again they are lovely. But hotel is cheap masquerading as trendy.

We stayed at Mama Shelter in Shoreditch for two nights recently. My partner and myself experienced quite a few issues with our room but I’m leaving a five star review because Bianca on reception was lovely and did absolutely everything she could to rectify the issues. Our heating wasn’t working, the TV in our room would continuously shut off after 5 minutes or not work at all, our bathroom door wouldn’t lock. Bianca offered us a free drink at the bar each, allowed us to move rooms, sent housekeeping to check that the new room was to a high standard while we were at the bar having our drinks, and then gave us breakfast for free the next morning. Really great service. The hotel has a brilliant and welcoming atmosphere on the ground floor with a busy bar and restaurant, gym, karaoke rooms etc. The roaring fire as you enter the building is a nice touch. We didn’t feel the need to leave the hotel as the TV on demand service offers so many free films to watch, and the TV in our second room was working perfectly. During our second night there were 50mph storm winds outside which was causing the aircon and other vents to make loud vibrating noises all night, but not the hotels fault. Overall a fun and different experience, a place to be yourself.

An excellent hotel in a perfect location with great transport links to wherever you might want to be in the city. Rooms are quite bare and uncluttered with simple fixtures and fittings. The bed is comfortable, there is fridge, a safe and a kettle, the bathroom is pleasant with a large walk-in shower and there are decent black out curtains. The hotel is lively at times, quirky, friendly and non-pretentious. The lobby is very welcoming and the atmosphere around the place is positive. I’d very happily stay here again if the rate was as good as it was on this particular two day visit to catch the test match at The Oval.
