Its location near the city center is a draw, though improved signage is suggested. The cozy atmosphere, including an attractive dining area, and the comfortable, well-equipped rooms with free parking are often praised.
While service is generally seen as friendly and efficient, the hotel's value stands out, with its reasonable rates and quality amenities, despite occasional mentions of additional charges. However, some travelers note issues with temperature control and noise in the rooms.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed here one or two nights most weeks now since November 2019 and have to say it’s a cracking little hotel, and a great example of Best Western.
Shellie and the team always ensure that you get well looked after and the 2 AA rosette restaurant is a gem, with great food from a talented kitchen at a very competitive price, in a not too formal bistro style conservatory restaurant.
Bedrooms are very comfortable and bathrooms benefit from a drench head shower.
The hotel is within easy walking of Norwich city centre on the edge of the ‘golden triangle’, so is highly recommended for any business or pleasure trip to Norwich.

Very warm friendly welcome as always. We stayed in the coach house part of the hotel and the rooms are very spacious and very well presented. There is a great bar area and dont miss the garden and pond area at the back ! Breakfast was great and this is served in the lovely conservatory area. Plenty of parking and a ten minute walk to the Castle / Centre. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for two nights. The hotel was very clean and at most a ten minute walk into Norwich. We only ate breakfast here, once Continental and one full English, it's obvious they use really good quality ingredients here, it was delicious and the lady serving in the morning was both friendly and efficient. We liked the thoughtfulness of providing a 'quick breakfast' which wasn't as extensive, but cheaper than the continental for those who were in a hurry. Would definitely recommend

The location was good as the city centre is in walking distance but there was a bus stop across the road and the bus services in Norwich are very frequent. Bit expensive for a short journey but much cheaper than getting a taxi. Managed to get parked at the hotel every day so this was good. The staff were very nice and the breakfast was good (except for the first one we had?). We went for a mix of continental and cooked breakfasts though the coffee was too weak. However the latte was much better so we stuck with that. We ate there a couple of times and food was OK though there are restaurants in the vicinity. Our room which was at the front of the hotel was a bit small and the 2 single beds were too soft. The room is in need of a makeover and the bathroom was a bit dark and dated. The shower was not that powerful though not too bad. Because of the fear of Covid-19 the rooms were not cleaned over the several days we stayed there. Towels / toiletries can be obtained by asking at reception. Would not be great for a long stay.

Dear Mr Heaton, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review regarding your most recent stay. I am glad to hear you enjoyed your time with us and were pleased with our location. Thank you for your kind comments towards our team, I will be sure to pass this on to them. I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with your room, due to our Georgian characteristics each room is different so if you have plans to return in the future please do let us know and we allocate you to a larger room. We are currently following Government advice with regards to the cleaning of bedrooms and due to this our housekeeping team are unable to enter occupied rooms, for both the safety of our guests and our team. As you mentioned we are always more than happy to provide any extra towels, toiletries and tea/coffee items if requested. I do hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back soon. Kind Regards, Emily Maher Duty Manager

Returned with my wife for a 4 night stay after a gap of 5 years. No regrets. High standards are being maintained despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic. With the steps being taken to ensure safety of guests we had no worries in that regard. Restaurant menu choice for dinner is, understandably, more limited than on our previous visit but there was still enough variety to satisfy us. With regard to the lack of housekeeping this wasn't a problem. If anything was needed, such as fresh towels, all was quickly arranged with a request via Reception. Special mention must be made for the service provided by Duty Manager Emily and, in the restaurant to Diana. With the benefit of exceptional weather to visit the glorious Norfolk countryside we wont leave it another 5 years before we return again.

First weekend break here for about five years-we were here for my wife's aunt 90th -but we were reassured by standards of friendly helpful professional service were still evident. familiar faces of Shelley Miller unbelievably in residence for a silver jubilee plus great help with the in-house wifi from Barry and friendly disposition of Amelia plus all the staff generally combined to ensure a great stay in one of the few weekends when the weather was halfway tolerable.Breakfasts were lively and well catered and attended but the dining room was not well attended on either Saturday or Sunday evening which was a shame given the wide choice and flexible menu arrangements given to us on half board terms;Diane on Friday was a delight as a server and made sure our meal and experience went very well. Our room 12 was well appointed at the back very quiet and had the great advantage of a wet room shower which was much appreciated by my wife still recovering from a badly broken wrist. We need to return in the summer.

Really enjoyed 6 nights at this hotel. It is not the most trendy looking but I really loved the traditional style, super clean room, comfy bed and a pretty little garden with pond that you could sit and have a coffee or read by. Easy walk into the city.
All the staff I met were friendly and welcoming, from the reception to the cleaning team who always had a ready smile.
I was visiting friends so decided didn’t end up using the restaurant but both breakfast and dinner smelt great each day and would have been happy to eat there.
And I was silly excited to be able to take a bunch of the sweet grapes home with me, cut from the 75 year old vine spanning the roof of the walkway between two buildings! Off to buy cheese to have with them!!
Thank you Annesley team, would love to come again.

This is our second stay at the hotel. We arrived early on Sunday and was allowed to park up, we walked into the town which is only a short walk away. We came back at 2 and checked into our room. We had a comfortable room in the Walsten House building. Due to Covid 19 restrictions our room was not made up each day or the towels changed but that was not a problem to us. We did ask for clean towels at reception and was given them instantly. The bar area was open and you could also eat in there due to the social distancing in place. The food was limited but still enough to choose from we had a meal in the hotel for the four nights that we stayed and was not disappointed. The breakfast menu was also very good. Staff were very good and friendly as they were on our previous stay. The hotel is ideally situated for the walk into the city centre and the city has an excellent bus service for visiting other places which we made good use of. We will defiantly be returning as it is so relaxing. Well done Annesley House.

We had a four night post lockdown break and stayed in the Garden Room. These guys really have it sorted in relation to a COVID safe environment as well as making you feel like you are on holiday. Shelley is a force of nature and runs everything in a calm and effortless manner. Diana was lovely at breakfast and I would really encourage people to stay in this well run hotel.

Incredibly pleasant and helpful staff, an excellent restaurant serving expertly prepared and cooked food and a well stocked bar, our Coach House room was a nice size, spotlessly clean with a really comfy bed and dynamic walk-in shower. The little things like having a brolly bucket by the front door, well stocked, and certainly needed this past weekend as it piddled down and luxury ply toilet paper set this hotel apart. Just a 5 minute stroll into the city centre, with onsite parking makes the location perfect for a city visit.

Rules continually change with COVID - call the hotel to inquire.
They're pretty flexible - I'm sure they'll let you park and check in later. When I arrived it was 2am because of late trains - there's a night manager there so they can check you in 24x7. I suggest you call/email ahead of time just so they know to expect you late.
Hello,
The bed is a Divan with a Diplomati Double Spring mattress from Mattison Contract Beds based in Ipswich. There is also a matress topper from Mitre Linen.
Hope this helps!
