We used the pool facilities which were reasonable. The changing rooms could have been cleaner but it was the end of the day when we visited.
We ate in the restaurant in the evening, largely due to convenience but also as the kids ate free. The food was ok, but overpriced if the kids weren’t eating. In reality there is no way I would pay those prices if the kids weren’t eating free, but when doing so it balances itself out in the end.
We contacted the hotel at the point of booking (the day of stay!) to book connecting rooms which were provided. This obviously works well with two kids and were located on a ground floor
The gym was great too, used it daily. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Been a while since we were there but want to come back again in the future as its a great base for the area.
Parking is included in the room rate and there is ample car parking. Taxi into town cost about £10.
The room needed a bit of TLC - chipped paint on the bottom of the door. The bathroom was small and poky and the bed far too hard for someone with a bad back - a feature of Holiday Inns generally, sadly. The shower also had taps behind you, meaning you had to turn it on as you got in!
However the staff were excellent - very friendly, welcoming and helpful, especially as we had daily problems with our room key. The breakfast is included and has a good choice of cold and hot items, cereals etc. The other meals served are good but limited. The pizzas are large.
Greeted by a very friendly receptionist. She explained all about the hotel protocol in relation to the Pandemic.
I was apprehensive as to whether the required protocol would negatively affect our stay. It didn't.
The hotel was spotless. Our rooms were clean and with no maid service, any ongoing items needed, were easily sourced from reception.
Breakfast was served, rather than being self service. Every day, the breakfast was excellent, with a wide choice and very well managed.
We didn't eat in the restaurant but did have a drink at the bar. You use an app to order. Very efficient.
Hopefully next time we return, circumstances will be different, but if you are needing to stay in the area, we would all highly recommend this hotel.

"Hoist access doesn’t seem to be common knowledge to IHG staff. Also, if you want the free carer room you have to call as it’s not on app."Read full review
