The Premier Inn Norwich City Centre (Duke Street) hotel comes highly recommended for its cleanliness and central location that guests find convenient for exploring the city. While the rooms are celebrated for their tidiness, reviewers caution that they can get notably hot and lack efficient cooling.
The service at this hotel garners praise for the staff's friendliness and professionalism, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. Opinions on value are divided; some guests appreciate the reasonable pricing for a city stay, whereas others feel the absence of air conditioning and high parking fees detract from the overall value.

Amazing customer service from Tracey, she went the extra mile to make sure we had a great stay. We’ll definitely be back! Tracey was so helpful and made sure our three rooms were close together, and was a friendly face on reception last night and again this morning.

We stayed for one night at the Premier Inn in Norwich it is in a fantastic location within short walking distance of all major sites. Parking is a 2 min walk away and only £5 a great deal for a City centre. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable a great base to explore the superb city of Norwich.

One thing to be aware of is, don't get muddled and mix this up with the other central Premier Inn that does have air con.
My husband did. Not often I trust him with hotel bookings. He has willingly passed the baton back to me. To be fair to him with a brand like Premier Inn you expect it to be standard?
We were there when the temp. was 37° outside. Imagine the temp. in a no air con, double glazed room? For 3 nights? Woke up so dehydrated I felt sick.
Sodid the make shift air con, bought a washing up bowl from local Tesco, 5 bags of ice and placed in front of the fan provided. Fan was filthy but any port in a storm. We were grateful for that after cleaning it up and the removal of duvets, just sheets.
We still couldn't sleep. Reception staff (woman with red hair) were fab, handing out jugs of iced water with a smile for those of us that headed down to that area as it had air con.
We felt sorry for the staff. Constantly apologising. I've sat through many a 'value engineering' meeting on new builds and maybe air con was a sacrifice in the building of this place? Norfolk is a county that is known for being warm. It's a city centre location for this hotel. Why no air con? Sound proofing was pretty rubbish as well, the people upstairs were just walking around but made our room noisy. I had earplugs in but could still hear them in the morning.
We always loved and booked Premier Inn back in the Lenny Henry days. We've noticed (maybe the familiarity thing) the lack of consistency between hotels. There's little point having comfy Hypnos beds if the soundproofing isn't up to scratch. A 4 night break previously at a Premier Inn was ruined by lack of sound proofing.
On a positive we did feel Covid safe. Would we stay again? No. Our trust in Premier Inn is truly compromised. Such a shame. It used to be so good.

When we stay in Norwich we stay in this Premier Inn because of the location. It is within easy walking distance to the city centre, so ideal for shopping and visiting museums, the castle etc.
Close by are numerous pubs and restaurants so the evening meal is taken care of.
This time we stayed in a room on the ground floor. Entry is by a card which you tap on the corridor door and then the room door. This helps to feel safe at night. The room was a fair size; we have felt slightly claustrophobic in other rooms in different hotels before. Television was a good size and the picture pretty good. We were able to pop back at various times during our 3 day residence. We slept fairly well on comfortable beds. Room was clean and the lighting brighter than many Premier Inn rooms.
Parking is in the nearby multi storey at a reduced rate of £5 per 24 hours and you can go in and return as often as you need. There is a machine to validate the car park ticket at reception.
Four stars because of the distance to carry heavy luggage and the drone of a fan in another room or cupboard which was slightly annoying in the quiet of the night, but our sleep was not badly disturbed. We will return again soon!

Another great stay at this Premier Inn located in a central yet peaceful location - helped by the double glazing. The room was quiet and clean and comfortable - as you'd expect. The tv is large and you can link via HDMI to your laptop if you'd rather be watching Netflix. The St Andrews NCP car park is close by and a safe and well lit place to leave your car. The rate is discounted for Premier Inn customers so ensure you validate your ticket at the hotel before you return to collect your car! Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough!

Stayed here 2 nights everything was perfect very comfortable beds and the shower was super powerful. At our request did not have the room made up between the 2 nights but requested more coffee from reception on our return on first night. This was not a problem to the helpful staff and were given as much as we wanted . Check in and check out was a breeze and dinner reservations were offered on checking as the hotel was full. I had read reviews about the possibility of noise from the attached pub but we didn’t hear a thing . Very well worth the money we paid for 2 nights. Would defiantly go back if we were to be in the area again

Very nice greeting at reception and fast efficient .
Good, clean and comfortable room. Very comfy bed. Good security as entrance to the stairs/lift is by swiping the room key, which is repeated at each floor level. Good size flat screen tv.
Very handy for the city centre, only a few minutes walk to shops, restaurants and museums.
Parking charge, at the nearby Duke Steret car park, is at a reduced rate, £5 for 24hours.
Perhaps the website information for the hotel could say that you should park in the Duke Street car park before checking in at reception as this would save a trip around the one way system again!
Overall a very good value and we will definitely be returning!

Firstly, the positives. The location is excellent! A short walk to the city centre, the Cathedral, Castle, etc., easy parking in a multi story just a short walk away, and easy access out to the coast (Cromer, Sheringham). Sadly, that's where it ends.
The rooms were unbearably hot, the windows only opened a crack and there was a dirty fan that simply moved hot air around the room. We barely slept for 3 nights, ruining our holiday because we were too tired to enjoy ourselves. So much for the good night sleep guarantee - I have emailed Premier Inn for a refund.
The breakfast experience was extremely disappointing. We all love a Premier Inn breakfast, but this was definitely below par. A lot of the usual Premier Inn breakfast items were not on the menu, despite the price being the same as usual. As expected it was table service, but it was so slow!! It took over an hour to get a couple of coffees, orange juice and a basic cooked breakfast. Even though we would have liked some other items from the continental selection, we couldn't wait any longer. The staff were stressed and miserable, and were not wearing face coverings.
All in all, a very disappointing Premier Inn experience.

Just had our breakfast. The buffet is closed and everyone orders their food and drinks for the waiting staff to deliver. The tables have been thinned out and Perspex screens have been fitted between quite a lot of the tables. Our waitress was not wearing a mask or any form of face covering. She wore no gloves when handling individual items from our order to put them individually on the table, and was within inches of us while doing this. None of this is Covid safe as far as I am aware.
Anyway, the precautions in the rest of the hotel are good, but even so, given the way the waiters operate, one does worry what 'precautions' are taken in the kitchen....
This hotel does have a fantastic location and parking arrangement for shopping and enjoying this fantastic city. Only other complaint(!) - please get air conditioning installed!!

+1
Stayed at the hotel a few times over the years.
COVID 19 meant no cleaning service but that was not a problem. The rooms were quite hot at night as no air con there was an Electric fan that we used. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were not . The vending machine downstairs charged £1 for a packet of crisps.
We did not use the restaurant as they only provided breakfast and the reviews regarding service were not good so we did not want to risk it. Plenty of places to eat out. The Riverside walk was lovely very interesting and views were good. We went to Elm Hill and looked at medieval buildings and the shopping was good. We visited wroxham but we were disappointed but Sheringham was nice.
