Very Comfortable hotel, needs a little updating but very reasonable prices & staff are very accomadating to any special dietary or any other needs. Situated so you can see the whole bay& just a short walk from shops & pubs. Great entertainment in the hotel. Large car park at the rear of hotel.…

After reading some bad reviews on here I was very pleased when my mum and I arrived at this hotel. We had paid extra for a sea view room as that was all that was left at the time of booking and it was fabulous! A very large, tastefully decorated room with a pristine clean shower room and big floor to ceiling windows giving a fantastic sea view even in the rainy weather we had. The food at both breakfast and dinner, both included in cost, was plentiful and delicious and service by our waiter in particular was super efficient and speedy. The dining room and ballroom looked recently refurbished and were very smart. Only saw entertainment on Friday night and it was great, that guy worked hard running the dancing even teaching some, doing the bingo and also was a really good singer. All in all a great stay at this hotel and we will definitely return.…
Me and my mum decided to book the North Yorkshire Moors Railway tour with Shearings and stay at The Bay Royal hotel. I can honestly say we’ve never had a problem with the hotel. Serving piping hot breakfasts and delicious evening meals this is the place to stay. The rooms are very clean and cosy. I had room 235 which was great with a sea view overlooking Clara’s ice cream shop. The bed was very comfortable - best nights sleep I’ve had in ages. There was plenty of hot water for a bath aswell. It was nice to see that the bar and restaurant have been redecorated and a fantastic job has been done. The weather wasn’t kind to us on Tuesday, the Steam Train to Pickering got stuck twice due to the rain but don’t let this deter you from booking it, me and my mum have done the Railway journey from Grosmont to Pickering twice before in the summer and it didn’t disappoint. The Eden Camp, journey to the Esk Valley and Scarborough were worthwhile excursions. The staff in the hotel work to the max. Vicki has a great team there and nothing is too much trouble for them, great customer service skills and they are friendly and polite. Thank you Vicki for once again a pleasant stay! Will see you soon. John …
