Grateful that they could fit us in at short notice for our anniversary. enjoyed my meal but far too many chips. Main door was open all night and I found it quite cold as our table was right next to door.
This a business which does things right. We stayed in Room 1. Bit of a descriptive issue there as its more like a suite than a room. With a mezzanine bedroom and sofas with a view, small but perfectly functional balcony, we are going to be hard pushed to find anywhere to stay that tops this.Hot drinks brought to our room, blankets provided for chillier nights on the balcony they have thought of everything. We had breakfast in our room and that too was absolutely perfect. Local kippers that tasted utterly divine. The housekeeping staff do an incredible job and are clearly devoted to making guests experience a joy too. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and again cannot fault a thing. Clearly a popular place and with good reason. Their own lager is without a doubt the tastiest thing I've tasted on tap. Seafood cooked, presented and served with care. We didn't want to leave. We will return. Bravo to the whole team for getting everything perfect for your guests.…
The hotel is perfectly located in the model of things and right on the waterfront. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The food both at dinner and breakfast is imaginative and perfectly prepared. At one level this appears to be just a pub, but in reality it is several notches able that. Hot drinks are a available at any time and will be proved to the room by hotel staff. The room with balcony on the corner of the hotel provides great views over the harbour and the abbey opposite. Finding the place by car is a bit of a challenge. Arriving along Pier Street, there is no sign to indicate the location of the hotel. It is only obvious looking behind you on the right as you emerge after the S-bend into Marine Parade, The idea is that you park in the loading ah on the road while you dispose of luggage and then find on street parking nearby with the parking permit provided by the hotel.…
Order two g&ts and after faffing around draining the last drops from two bottles of Tankeray the girl said she just needed to “pop out to get another bottle”. Returned ages later with a bottle of Gordon’s and said that was all she could get! This is a bar that is supposed to have a vast array of gins! Finally two Bombay Sapphires and you might think that was the worst of it but oh no. Having seen a huge rat scurry past us as we sat aside we asked if we could bring our dog into the bar. The response was “no dogs allowed” so we turned to walk back out when suddenly a young guy serving there said “it’s ok you can come in. I’ll clear the table for you.” All four of us had just sat down when he came back and said “sorry I misheard my manager;dogs aren’t allowed. You’ll have to go back out or I’ll get in trouble.” OMfG what a farce. The place is a joke. Avoid it.…
