We visited here on a wet Monday lunchtime, and was made to feel very welcome by the bar staff . We ordered a ploughmans and a cheese and piccalilli sandwich, which was served promptly and was very well presented. They were good value for money - just over £10 for both. Would definitely visit again when back in Whitby.

Called into the bar for a couple of drinks while it was raining. Overall does what it says on the tin and serves nice drinks in a nice bar. Female bar staff member should really get of her phone and talk to customers which would in turn of made us stop for more than one drink. Overall drink and bar... More

Called in for lunch, greeted by the young lady behind the bar very welcoming, real ales available, tried a strongarm which was excellent and pulled to perfection. The wife had lasagne which tasted perfect served with a fresh side salad and read with garlic dip, myself had the steak and IPA pie served with chips and peas perfectly cooked. I... More

This was my first time in Whitby. We were so lucky to drop on Goth weekend. Location of The Dolphin Hotel was excellent, right on the swing bridge. couldn't of asked for anything better. The rooms where very spacious, staff very helpful, good very good too. we've booked to return in December.

Have stayed at several hotels in Whitby over the last 3 years and our stay at The Dolphin was excellent. The location is brilliant and even though there is no car park it was not a problem as there was one very close by which was reasonably priced.

Popped in Saturday evening and had a very rude member of staff talking on her phone and ignoring customers, then arguing when challenged about keeping people waiting. I will no be spending my money in this establishment again.

Loved the bedroom and breakfast. Wasn't happy we had to leave at 10.30 in the pouring rain with no where to go as our train wasn't until 12 ish. They couldn't leave the bar unattended but we are there at night with no bar staff. No reception there one of the bar staff showed us our room. No phone in... More

Staff were very good and helpful. Room had no internet coverage and the hotel internet was the cloud which wouldn't allow me to register on it even when downstairs in range. Room radiator had very little use, only hot on bottom inch - probably just needed bleeding.

A party of 4 booked this hotel for a surprise birthday weekend via booking.com. Contacted by booking.com to say the owners were no longer booking through them and therefore the booking was not confirmed. Rang the dolphin who assured us that even though they were not using booking.com our booking was still secure and confirmed. As the weekend is approaching... More
