Situated in an elegant townhouse on Whitby's West Cliff, our hotel was once a favourite of Lewis Carroll and boasts one of the finest views in the country... Facing us across the picturesque harbour are the ruins of Whitby Abbey, inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula. Each of our unique rooms have been designed using Whitby's rich heritage as inspiration.

No TV, power shower or USB sockets in sight, hurrah! Perfect, from entering Helen was welcoming and friendly, as were all the staff. First impression were fantastic, we stayed in the La Rosa room, 1st floor front views of harbour and Abbey. It’s quirky, cluttered and from an age filled with glamour. Creaking floorboards, cobwebs, Victorian curios, every time you looked you saw something of interest. Breakfast served from a picnic baskets in your room, now that was fun. Brilliant location as well, disc zone parking available, only £4 for our weekend, easy beach / harbour access. Very different to our usual accommodation choice but now we are hooked and will be booking again. It’s good to be different, La Rosa is different.

Had a brilliant 2 night stay for our wedding anniversary. Had been for tea and cake previously and loved the vibe so booked to stay and it was exactly as we'd hoped. We had the La Rosa room with great views over the harbour towards the abbey. Breakfast was excellent, slight variations on the two days although a bit tricky to eat in bed. Staff really friendly and helpful, can't recommend highly enough.

This is our second time at La Rosa this year. We went in February to celebrate my 50th birthday and were blown away by it. It's so quirky, elegant and fascinating, and rammed full of Victorian curiosity. It really is a magical place for us, so it seemed like the natural place to return to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and to renew our vows. Helen and the team there made it truly wonderful for us and couldn't have been more helpful and supportive - pretty much giving us the entire cafe area for the best part of a day for us to get ready, being genuinely engaged in what we were doing and sharing the love on the day. I can't think of anywhere else that would have embraced our occasion to such an extent. The hotel remains an incredible discovery. This time we took our son and friends and stayed in the Crow's Nest - a three-bedroom suite on the top floor, which is ideal for family groups to enjoy everything that La Rosa has to offer. The breakfast in a basket was again a joy and we even had a laugh messing around in the dressing-up box up there. Thank you all so much. We will be back . . . again and again and again.

We went to La Rosa in February for my 50th birthday and utterly fell in love with it, so it seemed like the only place for us to return to to renew our wedding vows. We stayed in the Crow's Nest - the large three-bedroom suite right at the top - utterly perfect for a larger group, and as quirky and fascinating as every other room in this magical place. Beyond everything - the breakfast basket is still incredible, the hotel is as quirky and fun-filled as last time - was the effort Helen and the team went too to accommodate us and make our special day truly wonderful. They gave is the cafe area for the biggest part of a day to prepare and we felt they were all truly involved and engaged with what we were doing. We can't thank you enough. We will be back . . .again, and again, and again.

Hello I'm sorry but I've only just seen your question! The barn has two double beds, one downstairs in a large open planned room and ne upstairs. The campsite is closed until 2018 and diaries will be open in the new year. Kind regards Helen

Hello Richard Swallow Barn has a basic kitchen area which has a camping gas stove and kettle. There is a small fridge and lots of pots, pans, plates, glasses etc for guests to use. There is an outdoor fire area round the back with chiminea and you are welcome to bring a dispisable BBQ if you wish. If you have any other questions please ask. Regards Helen

Hello, is there parking with the hotel
Hello We have parking directly outside the hotel and all along the West Cliffe. Pay and display areas are free of charge until 1 March 2016. Guests who stay at the hotel can park in 'disc zones' , however they need to get a scratchcard from the hotel, free of charge, to display in the vehicle. They are valid for 4 days. If I can be of any further help, just let me know. Helen
