I can't tell you how wonderful this hotel is... it really has to be seen to be believed, a review couldn't really do it justice... we stayed and was just mesmerized from the moment we walked through the door. The areas downstairs are fab, and our room was just beautiful. Breakfast was served in a basket and there was such...

I have fallen well and truly in love. We stayed for my birthday this week and I now feel part of the La Rosa family. We stayed in the Saloon room which has the most amazing copper bath, I didn't want to leave it. Our celebrations turned in to something even more special by it becoming an engagement one too!...

We knew we'd be roughing it a little and were prepared for that. Unfortunately the converted truck we stayed in was very grim, furnished with genuinly unnerving trinkets and ornaments, some with their faces turned to the wall!? No lights, no water, ancient thread bare bedding. I slept in my clothes and if we hadn't been drinking we'd have left...

Hi there Firstly we're really sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at the campsite. We understand it's quirky and basic style is not for everyone. We feel sad that this review is posted in February 2017 for a stay in May 2016. We are a small family business who live on-site and would have happily addressed your concerns at the...

We went to Cafe la Rosa on Saturday night just for dinner and drinks, as a vegetarian it's a treat to find a restaurant serving wholesome tasty veggie food these days, but going to La Rosa is so much more than just enjoying the food. These are the kind of people you wish you could meet every day, warm, kind,...

My partner's mum booked the room for my partner and I as a surprise. She said that when she booked it, the person who took the booking was helpful and pleasant. When we arrived, the woman who we checked in with was very welcoming. The hotel is perfectly situated near the Whale Bone Arch and the harbour below. We stayed...

My wife and I spent 2 nights in the La Rosa hotel in Whitby. Everything about the hotel is a experience from the moment you step through the door you are presented with a quirky and quaint environment, the staff are delightful and warm. I suspect the décor will be a little like Marmite, while we absolutely loved it I...

I booked Swallow Barn for 2 nights as a birthday surprise for my partner. Looking for somewhere with a bit more character than your average B&B within a stones throw from Whitby (15mins drive), the Big Top / Coney Island themed décor didn't disappoint. We spent the evenings snuggled on the sofa in front of the roaring wood fire, playing...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Rosa Hotel and Campsite aim to offer our guests something a little bit out of the ordinary. Whitbys history is full of fairytales and folklore, and at La Rosa we to embrace it's magical nature. With views over to the Abbey you can almost picture Lewis Carol sitting at the window and brainstorming on one of his many trips to the building all those years ago.... The hotel offers 8 double rooms and a three bedroomed apartment. All themed differently. You can stay in the Wild West or Arabia. Depending on your sensibilities! The campsite offers 10 caravans and a barn decorated splendiferously. Not quite glamping more like camping. There is no electricity in the caravans, leaving candle light and fires to light your way at night. ... more   less
