10-minute away from the riff-raff of the city centre, you'll find this accessible yet secluded enough to feel like you have your own bit of town. It's a fairly traditional pub with modernised accommodation upstairs. It has a pool table, and the pub is quite homely. Rooms are small but comfortable and have everything you need, including tea and coffee...

I stayed here for 2 nights over Christmas week and had a nice stay. Our room had 2 single beds in and was clean, the bathroom was small but adequate for what we needed. The breakfast was tea, coffee, toast, eggs, cheese, ham and toast, you just get what you want which was quite nice. The main problem I had...

Family of 4 paid 180 for a Saturday night stay. One tiny freezing cold bathroom and 4 broken beds. The bedding was shabby and old and on the smaller beds the bottom sheet did not fit properly so came off. Pillows smelt of smoke. No remote for the tv (laminated paper said people steal them....why on earth would someone steal...

Stayed for 2 nights. About 15min walk into town. Room was clean and warm. Tea and coffee making facilities WiFi a bit hit and miss and would have liked an option of a cooked breakfast but otherwise not too bad

Nice pub, rooms ok, but dated. Biggest problem was the light packed in in the bathroom, twice we asked for it to be replaced, but no one bothered meaning we had to use the toilet by torchlight & unable to have a shower. We won't be returning.

Well we have visited this pub a few times now when we visit York and the last visit has seen the pub modernised and it looks really nice. It is a friendly little local pub with friendly staff and customers.

Nice pub friendly staff and the bedrooms were ok too. We got what we paid for. And free parking which was a bonus. Only about 20 minutes walk to town. I would stay here again if I am to go to york again.
