Nice friendly atmosphere, lovely fresh food at a good price, the steak we ordered was all cooked perfectly even though we ordered all 3 different, a good selection of beers and ciders, the kids menu was great too all 3 kids loved the food

Whilst the food is good, the customer service (or, lack of it on the past number of occasions) certainly let's this place down. If I return a glass which is marked with a lipstick stain, I would expect to receive an apology.

Reasonably priced and food was just ok. You get a little more meat than at some carvery and food did taste good but not a huge choice in vegetables. The roast potatoes aren't really roasted and the parsnips were like thin pieces of burnt cardboard....I was worried I may break a tooth. Overall just ok,...the place could have been a...

Our family went here for an evening meal, the staff were very helpful and our meal was very nice and reasonable value for money. We were that happy that we have booked for Christmas dinner and we hope it will be just as nice

Myself, partner and son went to the Carlton yesterday to have our tea. The barmaid was not very nice, I asked ordered 3 drinks with ice & asked if we could eat outside as it was a boiling day. She said yes, served us our drinks without ice all the while chatting to another customer. I asked if I can...

Visited for lunch today. Although the menu wasn't extensive, there was choice enough, and I went for the fish and chips with mushy peas. Staff are keen to serve with a smile. Layout of dining room is good, with different areas to sit, some cosy, others near the bar, and a modern area attached. This pub would be ideal in...

We arrived on a Monday evening. Having tried 2 other local pubs which weren't serving meals on a Monday we were very grateful to find that the Carlton Tavern was, and also (luckily for us) they were offering a 2 for 1 deal on steak or gammon. There were 3 of us, and 2 of us had the gammon which...

Good God. The accommodation is a total let down. It can't of been cleaned in months as thick dust was about everywhere. Cracked windows, awful dirty carpets, shower hanging off with mouldy curtains. Please please avoid this place as it is a health hazard. It needs condemning and totally closing to the public. This isn't a hotel room, more a...
