Welcome to The Grand, York's first and only AA five-star rated hotel. This stunning hotel opened in May 2010 following the extensive refurbishment of the former North Eastern Railway headquarters – one of York’s most iconic Edwardian buildings. Originally constructed in 1906 as a ‘Palace of Business’ for what was then one of the most powerful public companies in the country, today it is the region’s leading luxury hotel and has established a global reputation for its first-class service, stylish bedrooms and unique historic atmosphere. Since a £15 million refurbishment in 2017, The Grand now boasts 207 individually designed bedrooms, a beautiful spa to relax, two destination restaurants, cocktail bar and events spaces. Something for everybody to enjoy - we look forward to welcoming you soon!

I booked this hotel for my husband's birthday as a special treat. He loves York so I found the best hotel I could for his birthday weekend. I think for £200 a night I expected more. I have pointed out in the booking that this is a special, birthday occasion and asked for a

Very welcoming staff, especially the doormen. Excellent barmen too. Room new and beautiful. Great shower but no bath. Bed very comfortable. They loaned us umbrellas for the walk in to town. I would definitely come back here and would love to try their cooking classes too

You can park in the NCP yourself which is right next to the hotels secure parking if you wish to park your own car, both entrances side by side on same street. Plenty of drop off parking outside the hotel also and a few minutes walk from the train station if you don't need the car, indeed if you're only staying in York and not going far from the City centre use the train as most places easy to walk to and that's coming from a complete petrol head ⛽😎

Is parking in the grounds or a car parking?
We parked just to the side of the entrance as advised when we pulled up. Keys were given to the valet and they moved the car and parked it. When we check out it was brought back to the front for us.
