My Two sons stayed overnight here and on inspecting room found that the bed had not been split into two singles.Staff were advised and stated they would sort it asap.On arriving back later that night they found that the bed had NOT been split into two with no explanation why. the breakfast was poor, and facilities very basic. Will not be using again.
We've stayed here a number of times, never disappointed. Can't recommend highly enough. 5 mins walk to the main shopping areas. Staff and service are excellent had meal in restaurant - beautiful; if anything more choice needed.
Quite nice but three issues. The mulled wine was, quite frankly, rubbish. it tasted more like spiced fruit cordial and I sent it back and got a glass of Prosecco instead. Usually an Afternoon Tea has four types of sandwiches, this had only three. For a 'Festive' afternoon tea, one mught expect at least two Festive cakes - a mince pie and a little piece of Christmas Cake - but there was only a mini mince pie.
They were not busy but service was not particularly attentive. Not likely to go back.
I was in a group for our Christmas outing. I was thinking that catering for a group was generally, at best average. Our meal was great, much better than many a 5 star hotels that I have eaten in, in Europe and UK. I can comment on the hotel rooms, but the reception and bar staff were great
I stayed at the York Novotel for 4 nights in early December. It was within easy walking distance of York centre, including St Nicholas' Christmas Market, The Shambles, York Minster, Yorvik , etc. The hotel itself was modern , clean, friendly staff, had an excellent beeakfast and was good value for money. The only negative was that they charge for parking in their own car park.
