Revisited an old favourite restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. Again from service to ambience, food quality to overall experience it was a faultless experience. It remains a big favourite, but as it is special, it is a little pricey for day to day. Don't let that out you off - enjoy the lunch menu and...

I enjoyed an overnight spa break in the company of a friend which was most enjoyable and I would say first class. Based on the facilities etc. .... The spa needs to expand to fully cater for a great spa day experience, since the communal areas and pool facilities seemed too compact. The pool was cold and not a pleasant...

We stayed here for 3 nights in March to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary. Everthing was first class and the attention of the staff unbelievably good. We had dinner each night and as the menu choice was slightly limited the Chef arranged an off menu dish for our last meal. We have booked a cruise for our 50th anniversary next...

I stayed here for one night as part of a 2 day meeting. I was really impressed with everything about this place. The situation is just so beautiful and very close to York City Centre. The staff are all really helpful and all have a really delightful sense of humour and are good fun. The rooms are lovely and you...

Middlethorpe Hall is a beautiful building; the rooms are full of character and the setting in perfect, within immaculate gardens. Our main complaint during our one night stay was the quality of food and the lack of service in the dining room on the Saturday evening. The waitress appeared to speak very limited English and she couldn’t seem to understand...

We are reminded that guests’ loyalty is determined by the latest experience, regardless of what had gone before, however excellent. We hope these guests who like the setting and character of the place will give themselves and us the opportunity to restore their faith in our high...

We stayed with our two daughters for two nights in a cottage adjacent to the hotel. The cottage was quirky and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner delicious, staff friendly. Michael the doorman was very helpful and knowledgable. The pool was nice to use during times allocated for children, although change room very compact. Would definitely return. The dinner, bed and breakfast...

Here for two nights, myself and my wife were greeted warmly at the door by a very pleasant young man. This set the tone as regards service for the rest of the stay. Being a National Trust property the decor is in keeping with this period house. We were shown to a superior double room in the courtyard block. Comfortable,...

Wow, what a place! It reminded me of staying in Paradors in Spain. Relaxing in perfectly manicured gardens, comfortable bedrooms and chilling in the lounge area was very special. The food was first class and the spa is a really lovely surprise too. This is a 'hidden gem' with exceptional service from a very smiley team! A return visit is...
