The location was great, the proprietor was extremely helpful, my bedroom was lovely, clean & very comfortable, the guests lounge was charming and stylish, the outside was beautifully kept and the breakfasts were delicious and plentiful :-) I would have no hesitation...

This B&B is ideally located about 200 metres from Micklegate so is really handy to old York. Our room and bed were comfortable and breakfast and service also good. Our room was on the top floor up seven flights of stairs and faced the road. It was a bit of a struggle getting suitcases that far up and on Saturday...

Fantastic Hotel. Fantastic Breakfasts. Fantastic Owners and Staff. Have just returned from a three night stay in one of the family rooms with my husband and two boys and wish we were still there. Nothing was a problem and everyone was very accommodating which is a huge plus when you are visiting with children. We will definitely be returning to...

From time to time I have to stay in York overnight for work and over the years have tried many B&Bs. From now on I don't need to! Carlton House is excellent - the rooms, the staff, the breakfast; all are first rate. It's only a pity I don't use the room for more than one night. I have given...

It is a fantastic location with the city just 5mins walk away and a great place to explore the surrounding area. The staff were all really friendly. We took advice on the best places to eat...

This B&B is in a brilliant location, in a lovely big old house, very close to York city centre. We arrived late one night and were given a very warm welcome and a lovely, spacious and clean room. The breakfast was lovely and so was the dining room. We had a very enjoyable stay and we will definitely return!

Comfortable stay at this B&B but just a little bit letdown as I had expected more going by the reviews over here. It's comfortable but the decor is a little tired and the personal touches were not there.

Greeted on arrival by Mark, who was very curtious and attentive . Our accommodation was everything we required, clean and stylish. In a perfect location close to the railway station and all the attractions. I will be recommending this B&B to my friends and family and wouldn"t hesitate to stay here again myself.

My daughter and I have just returned from a wonderful two-night stay at Carlton House, which is quite simply one of the best B&Bs we have stayed in. The rooms are spotlessly clean, huge and full of character, with extremely comfortable beds, high ceilings and beautiful decor. The hosts are extremely helpful - even offering to keep the cakes we...
