This is a very old pub in the centre of York so space is restricted but has lots of atmosphere, however the food is excellent with enormous helpings. We struggled to eat it all, but it tasted so good that we managed it! Not only that it, is very good value.

Went for Sunday roast, quite pricey at £23 for 2 of us but generous portions. Meat was plentiful if a little tough, veg were quite bland and may have been tinned, roast potatoes were awful. Yorkshire pud average at best. I'm sure there are better Sunday roasts to be had in York!

My parents had drank here before and it's got a great selling point with the ghouls but our family dinner here was terrible. The corner we sat in was extremely dark you couldn't really see to eat but it added to the "character" so we were fine with it. The menus were sticky and two had mushy old onions stuck...

We just popped in for a few beers at the end of a day's visit to York. The beer was great and the lady serving was lovely and friendly. They serve a range of beers and there are lots of interesting pictures and displays on the walls.

Visited recently after a ghost walk, in which the pub features, just for drinks. There was music on- a great little duo playing the fiddle and guitar- who entertained everyone. Nice atmosphere and we loved Saul, sat at the bar.

Come to York every December usually just before Christmas with my Sons. This year I returned in January for a Birthday weekend with my partner. Over the years it's become a tradition to visit the Golden Fleece for a meal, partly to soak in the atmosphere and history of the place. Over the years this beautiful and historic pub has...

Stayed at York over Easter weekend - our apmnt was just outside the city walls but ended up in the Fleece every day for drinks / dinner / breakfast over the weekend. Highly recommended - a fantastic traditional pub - says oldest and most haunted in the city. Staff really friendly and work hard. Great traditional menu - huge portions...

Visited with our daughters and friend from Australia. We had eaten here before a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. The girl behind the bar was very pleasant and our food arrived promptly. Our friend had ordered giant Yorkshire pud which was black and burnt when it arrived and really shouldn't have been sent out. It went back...
