Love coming to this place when we visit york but tonight we went and were disappointed with the food. Lasagne was dried up and stuck to plate. Cottage pie was just warm. Service was however brilliant as always.

The pub has a lot of history and the haunted theme is probably what attracts most visitors. Interesting reading the stories on the wall etc. Food, atmosphere, service was what I will describe as averagely good, not spectacular. Ideal for a pub lunch if you want a bit of history at the same time. A little bit grubby and tired...

I booked the Minster Suite as a Birthday treat for my partner. It's not cheap, but that's the price you pay to stay in the 'most haunted pub in York'. The low-light slightly dilapidated mediaeval look and creepy decor were expected, but the bathroom was state of the art. The room looks over the Shambles, so we were within walking...

As always it has to be the fleece for the best and largest breakfast in York. Delicious local ingredients cooked to perfection. A lovely characteristic pub with warm friendly staff. Having eaten several times here, we are never ever disappointed. A good choice too for live music on a Saturday.

Walked through the front bar down the corridor to another bar/room. The waiting staff were really friendly and showed us to a table. We were there for a light lunch - I ordered the cheese and onion relish sandwich and a side of fries. My wife ordered the ploughman's lunch. My sandwich was great. I could only manage half of...

Walked into this pokey little pub at lunchtime, to be greeted at the bar by are you eating ? we answered in the negative to which the barman turned his back on us. The location is probably an old pub but could also have been a old sweet shop. The "authentic atmosphere" mostly seems to come from uneven floors and...

Apparently one of the oldest pubs in York? Possibly one of the smallest as well! Not withstanding a quaint pub where I had drinks with a few friends. Seem to recall the prices were pretty fair for York. Definitely worth a visit.

You know what forget all the negative reviews, we found this little pub by chance, once you enter the pub area is no bigger than your front room, we were greeted by a very welcoming bar man, who took us down a corridor which was all on a slant and entered the quirky restaurant everything is in keeping with the...

Not being a believer of the whole ghost theme, whether the Golden Fleece is York's most haunted pub, I do not know. However I do know tired and grubby when I see it. Whilst grubby can sometimes work, it can appear to illustrate character: this grubby is just unpleasant. Notwithstanding this the pub was very busy which is normally a...
