The pub was lovely both outside and in. The choice of food and beer was good and the staff were very friendly. Only issue was the atmosphere, as it is known to be haunted then the pub was predominantly full of tourists which i feel spoilt the atmosphere. But would recommend a visit to anyone.

A little mess up on my starter & not told we had to order our food from the bar in the restaurant, but apart from that, outstanding all round... Lovely attentive staff, great food and top entertainment... Would definitely recommend. SW :-)

We have been to York several times and look forward to the Golden Fleece everytime we go. What a great pub, the staff are super friendly and took the time to chat and get to know us which is nice when you're in a lot :) The food is fantastic though due to how good it is you will have...

As the oldest pub in York it embraces the fact. It is full of history! Every night there is musical entertainment with a variety performers. Wednesday is the sing around. The York terror Trail starts outside here as well that is definitely recommended too! The staff are all lovely too, and the food is especially yummy!

Whoever has left a review saying that the food here is awful or not upto scratch really needs to address their tastebuds. When we visit York from Manchester, this is where we always eat. We wouldnt eat anywhere else if im truly honest. Its a quirky pub but romantic all the same. Keep up the good work guys x

We stopped here for one night. The room was lovely 'The Minster', breakfast the next morning was good too. I just think £130 for one night is quite expensive, there is nothing special to justify this cost. You are just paying for the privilege of staying in a York's oldest pub. We didn't see any spooky goings on whilst we...

We have never stayed or eaten here but always pop in for pint or two when visiting York and have wandered down the shambles along the way. I have always had a very decent pint and the staff have been polite and decent each and every time. The interior is worh a look if you have never been in before...
