A great find in York, the people who work here are friendly & approachable. The food, I had Rabbit Pie @ £9.30 served with a choice of mash or chips with veg was tasty, plenty of rabbit and thoroughly enjoyable. The pub has two bars, wood panelled, along with an open fire in each. Ales from local breweries, a lager,...

We were visiting the Barbican for a concert and decided to stay over. The Masons is recently refurbished and the room was really nice. High spec furnishings and very comfy bed. It was warm and well stocked with towels and hot drinks etc. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Would definitely stay again.

Popped in here as it was just across the road from the hotel we were staying in. An old traditional pub with wood panelling a lovely terrace around the back which I should imagine is Lovely to sit in in the summertime. The food is your traditional pub fayre all on the blackboard but there is a lot of choice...

My first time in York, I went to the Barbican to watch the snooker and between the afternoon and evening sessions, I wanted to get something to eat. I decided to take my chances and just walk down the road until I came across somewhere that looked like they would be serving food. Luckily for me this was not far...

Went to The Masons as near to our hotel in York and wasn't disappointed. We received a very friendly welcome and the food was delicious. My husband enjoyed rabbit pie with mash and veg, I enjoyed homemade lasagne and chunky chips and our daughter enjoyed her children's scampi & chips. The portions were very generous and all the food tasted...

We stayed her not long after it re- opened and it had just been refurbished. The rooms were quite spacious and warm, and the beds were very comfortable. They had coffee making facilities in the the room and toiletries in the showeroom. Only down fall was there were no hairdryers, however, they said they were going to supply hair dryers...

The Masons has been a pub we have eaten is for years and to be honest it had gone somewhat off before the flooding of Christmas 2015. Now under new management the best is back! The floods have meant a freshen up but the main event is back with traditional pub food and plenty of it

Not a great deal to review really!! Authentic out of city pub, with a clean, tidy & welcoming feel. A few people were in and dining (in the bar) and all seemed ok. Atmosphere was a bit off, but it was early on a Thursday evening. Bar staff could be a bit more engaging, but that's picking fine fault.

We had been let down by other accommodation in York (despite booking) and were extremely grateful that the Masons Arms came to our rescue. They had only just finished refurbishing the rooms after the flooding, so we were very lucky to get the opportunity to say. It is finished immaculately and is extremely comfortable. The staff are wonderful and so...

After months of closure due to the floods, Gary and Julie have made a welcome return to oversee the place, meaning that Julie's cooking is back on the menu. Huge portions, reasonable prices and an ever-changing menu coupled with friendly bar staff make this place a favourite when the owner's are in charge. As we live in York, I can't...

“The room we stayed in was at the side of the pub up the stairs and it was quiet, we didn't hear any noise both at night or the morning - the room was on the small side but it did what it needed to do for us and the main thing was that it was clean and within walking distance of the town. Great value”
