Such a comfortable and relaxing place to visit, everything was super clean, homely and comforting. The owners were very informative and friendly. The bedrooms are beautiful and it is in such a peacful area that you can completely relax. Definitely worth a visit.

Our four night stay at St Rafael Guest House was the highlight of our trip! Les and Al were the most gracious hosts, and so helpful as to places to go and see and eat. Their explicit directions made our trip from the train so easy..less than 10 minutes. The walk into town was direct and getting around was a...

Close to the old town of York, an easy walk to interesting historic sites. The hosts were very friendly, delicious breakfasts with fresh baked bread every day. The room was comfortable with a clean tidy modern bathroom.

St. Raphael was a lovely place to stay for our two nights in York! My husband and I adored our room, The Bars, which had so much character with the beamed ceiling and antique fireplace. The view from our room was also fantastic. Watching the sun set and rise was one of our favorite things. Our hosts, Les and Al,...

My wife and I just returned from a whirlwind trip to the UK where we stayed at several nice B&B's, but this may have been our favorite. Owners Les and Al are lovely and friendly, and they are both passionate about the impressive history and culture that are on display in York. Our room was beautiful with a fresh yellow...

Very disappointed in owner's response and attitude. Was looking to book for one night in June and computer glitch booked a room for the next night! Received no confirmation so didn't realize it had happened. Not until I got the charge on my credit card. Tried to explain to owner but very rude in his response, trying to tell me...

A pity that this lady has deliberately distorted the incident. Zero stars from me. She booked using the FreeToBook secure online booking system. She incorrectly entered a two night stay in March, instead of a one night stay in June. She admitted by email, 4 days after the no show, that she had made a mistake. She explained that she...

Nice room though compact. Clean, brightly lit, plenty of everything, warm enough, good location for York tours. Owners are very helpful and do a wonderful breakfast 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. every day, including fresh-baked bread (3 kinds). They also give recommendations for restaurants and how to get around on foot, which were particularly helpful to us. Only 1 slight drawback...

We received a wonderful welcome on arrival, and can only praise the little touches and hospitality. Very comfortable bed, and certainly one of the best breakfasts we have had. Waking up to the smell of fresh bread was delightful. It is very quiet and we would certainly recommend this B&B for your stay in York.

This guest house is only 800 metres from York Minster and convenient for all attractions in the city. It is a cosy, immaculate guest house and a lovely welcome awaits you. The breakfasts are simply the best with great attention to detail and home made bread too. I will never again be disappointed in York for I will stay here.
