Very disappointed in owner's response and attitude. Was looking to book for one night in June and computer glitch booked a room for the next night! Received no confirmation so didn't realize it had happened. Not until I got the charge on my credit card. Tried to explain to owner but very rude in his response, trying to tell me...

A pity that this lady has deliberately distorted the incident. Zero stars from me. She booked using the FreeToBook secure online booking system. She incorrectly entered a two night stay in March, instead of a one night stay in June. She admitted by email, 4 days after the no show, that she had made a mistake. She explained that she...

Nice room though compact. Clean, brightly lit, plenty of everything, warm enough, good location for York tours. Owners are very helpful and do a wonderful breakfast 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. every day, including fresh-baked bread (3 kinds). They also give recommendations for restaurants and how to get around on foot, which were particularly helpful to us. Only 1 slight drawback...

Parents just returned as a retirement present and loved every minute of it! Great hosts and lovely guest house in central location. Highly recommended! Rooms very clean and breakfast was superb. Can't go wrong if thinking of staying here.

We received a wonderful welcome on arrival, and can only praise the little touches and hospitality. Very comfortable bed, and certainly one of the best breakfasts we have had. Waking up to the smell of fresh bread was delightful. It is very quiet and we would certainly recommend this B&B for your stay in York.

This guest house is only 800 metres from York Minster and convenient for all attractions in the city. It is a cosy, immaculate guest house and a lovely welcome awaits you. The breakfasts are simply the best with great attention to detail and home made bread too. I will never again be disappointed in York for I will stay here.

We felt so lucky to find a room at St. Raphael during the busy York Christmas fair. The incredibly detailed and thoughtful city guide compiled by Les and Al, and provided in your room, is worth a stay there all by itself. Plus, this was by far the best breakfast we've had in all our England travels -- so many...

This is a very pleasant place to stay, excellent hosts, clean rooms and close to the town centre. We stayed for 4 nights, for my Birthday, and stayed here on the recommendation of a friend. Breakfast was excellent, good choice and quality. It was warm and inviting, could not have asked for more.

Les and Al run a very welcoming, relaxed and efficient guest house. The location for the old city centre is very good - 10 minutes walk and you are there yet the area where the guest house is located is very quiet. Breakfast is a treat for those with a hearty appetite. Room cosy although a little on the small...
