Detailed Reviews
Totally disgusting hotel. We have been to many hotels, but nothing as bad as this. It was filthy from the entrance to the room. The carpets are dirty, not hoover and stained all over and smelly. Marks on all walls, light switches, doors and window sills. The bathroom looked like it wasn't cleaned ever. Cobwebs in windows. Extremely noisy location, and the beds were very uncomfortable and stained.
The cooked breakfast looked like it was served several days before.
Don't go there.

We booked this hotel short notice with a dog as we came to the area due to my father being on his death bed. When we arrived we were told that they did not like dogs in the main hotel and we were getting an upgrade to a room opposite the car park. We paid and were given our key and directions to room 17. Upon entering the room it was astounding how this room could even be rented out. The room was disgustingly filthy and had not been cleaned properly in ages, the bedding and chair ware also filthy the room was like something you would have gotten in Blackpool back in the 1980s. The bathroom was disgusting and stunk of damp. There was no way that i would have allowed my dog to stay there on his own never mind my wife and myself. I returned the key to reception and informed them we would not be staying there and asked for a refund. I was told the manager would get in touch which still hasn’t happened. Worse than that we had to then find an alternative hotel which was pet friendly and whilst doing so i missed my farther passing away. This place is a disgrace and should be condemned along with the people that own it.

The most shocking and disgusting hotel we have ever stayed in, on arrival the reception gave us 3 sets of keys and didn’t know what room we had booked, then when we came back to reception asked if we had taken the web off the wall( in the room that stank of weed) when we did get Our room the room was Dirty old and in need of some serious repairs the windows didn’t lock and had mould all Over them we found blood stains on the mattress as the sheets were too small, so we slept on top.
If I had known it was this bad I would never of booked it £173 for two night in what can only be described as a s*** hole, and I Defy the hotel to contest this. How it comes
15th out of 22 Hotel in the area is a joke, I would challenge the reviews that gave it 10/10 as I feel they are friends or mates.
Ps we both have sickness on the Sunday night when we got home which we can only assume was From the breakfast, a little cherry on the cake.

Liked · We stayed at this hotel last year and in our review we said that it was tired and needed to be updated.
Well this has happened and the difference was very noticeable, the exterior was looking more cheery.
The interior had been given a complete makeover from reception, bar/restaurant to the bedrooms.
A fresh cooked breakfast to your liking is provided every morning and there is an option to have an evening meal, the menu is not extensive, however, what is available is of a very good standard and reasonably priced.
All of the staff from check-in/out and during our stay were extremely pleasant and helpful.
15 minute walk into the city centre.
Disliked · Perhaps upgrade of the double glazing.

Although greeted with a welcoming smile by the first receptionist that greeted me on my arrival, I can honestly say this is the worst place I have ever had to stay. I found multiple hairs across the whole room. Laminated menu that was dirty on a dresser offering the dinner menu for downstairs. Only positive I found were the cheap biscuits offered with the tea bags in the room. Very dated with damaged furniture, walls and curtains. Opened the curtain in the morning and the whole thing fell down. Shower was so filthy I didn’t use this. Hairs and what appeared to be eyelashes on the floor. The toilet roll that was spare behind on the toilet was unused however dirty. Bedside lamp shade was filthy. I was booked to stay here on a business trip and felt the cleanliness was at such a low, I did not try the breakfast that I had paid for after having an awful nights sleep. Road noise is loud yes however would not say this impacted my sleep at all. When I checked out very early the next morning, the receptionist (a different one this time) was dealing with another guest complaint when I was checking out and said “okay, anything I need to know” so I alerted them to the curtain and hooks that had fallen down. She appeared unbothered as I left swiftly. The overall cleanliness and condition of this hotel was the same throughout as I found within the hotel room itself. A real shame when it was £110 for the night and was booked last minute with local other larger chain hotels fully booked. An experience I can genuinely same made me feel very uncomfortable.

Do not stay here it is overpriced and shockingly maintained. Nothing but attitude from stuff. Paid £79 for a broken room and no breakfast included. We are a couple and a dog and got 2 single beds but I found out that the lady who took my booking took me under as a single person and no dog but still paid £79 and £50 deposit on top.

When we arrived we were told there was a party, but we couldn't hear anything in Reception so we paid up and went to the room. It was only around 8pm but already there was thumping music, no way you could even sit in never sleep. We went back down and asked to be moved, but when I was shown the room my partner stayed in Reception and he told me they'd got the music turned down while I was up there! We asked for a refund and were refused, went elsewhere. Contacted them by email afterwards with a polite request to be refunded and were told no. Tried another polite email and have been ignored. It wasn't the lady on Reception's fault, she phoned the manager while we were there with our request for a refund and obviously wanted to help. Clearly no manager on site, at least that night, she was left to deal with things. We were not told about the party when we'd called to book nor had it been on their website. Awful place

Thought would put wall lights on to relax in evening as have baby with us (8 weeks) - 1 light was as bright as the main light, never mind all 3. Shouldn't have bothered as street light lights up the room through the thin curtains.
Room was so hot we had no choice but to have all the windows open which was of little benefit. The noise from the constant traffic and noises of being on the main road and constant blaring of music all night has kept both me and my baby awake all night. (Partner only slept as had been drinking).
Wi-Fi doesn't work in room.
Not really looked at anything else as of yet as only wanted a bed for a couple of nights. Unsure what my partner paid for 2 nights, but will be asking for a refund and not staying the second night.
I have stayed in worse looking rooms, rooms where I had to stay fully clothed on top of the bed and barely dared touch anything, but at least I could sleep!
No doubt will see what breakfast brings, but I don't hold out much hope reading these reviews. I wish my partner had taken time to read them before booking.

Booked for one night whilst visiting the Royal Derngate Theatre. Booked via booking.com at a very reasonable rate for B & B. I read the reviews before booking but we only wanted one night so I thought - how bad can it be. Well, the room was a family size, very clean, a bit run down and yes we had traffic noise - you are in the middle of a traffic light junction! We had a good breakfast the next morning. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
