Detailed Reviews
On arrival the hotel looks great with a modern and please facade. There is ample parking, plug-in facilities for electric cars and a monitoring system requiring guests to enter their registration number on a terminal at reception.
The booking in process was painful with the receptionist insisting that I have not paid and was staying for 2 nights. I showed by booking.com confirmation and offered the confirmation number and pin number to assist. Eventually all was sorted once the receptionist realised he had misheard my name but, this could all have been sorted in seconds if he had used the confirmation number I offered. I asked for a room near reception and on the ground floor, in the event I was placed on the first floor in a room near the farthest end of the building. My double bed became a twin single. I assume that is what the 'other' guest asked for.
The rooms themselves are modern and pleasant to look at but, very minimalistic. Aside from that, when settling in, it is easy to note that everything appears to have been done on the cheap. If you want a hair dryer you have to ask reception, if you want a mat for the bathroom you have to ask reception. These should be standard items. No information on how to connect to the internet, just small things that make for a better more convenient stay.
The shower is over the bath meaning people have to climb in, not very helpful for the aged or infirm. Then a shower curtain attacks you when you attempt to shower. Not very hygienic especially in a hotel. Why not use a shower screen?
As for the beds they are quite simply the worst I have ever slept in. They are uncomfortable and you can feel every spring. The pillows are horrible and cheap.
The only good point was the buffet breakfast. I was plentiful, hot and had a wide choice of items. Guests in the restaurant were looked after by one young lady and she was brilliant and just never stopped working. She is a credit to the team.
Would I stay again? A good breakfast is an important part of any hotel stay but so is a good nights sleep. The latter trumps the former, so the answer is an emphatic NO.

I stayed here for a business trip. The room was fine- I was given a paper bag with paper cups and sachets of tea and coffee. No decaf in the bag- probably could have asked for it. Facilities mostly good although the shower fitting was loose and water pressure so strong so that it flew off the wall and soaked the room when I turned it on.
Bed was good and I had a good nights sleep.
Next day I was leading training in a room upstairs. I requested a room with an opening window to be safer COVID-wise. However this made the students so cold we needed the heating on full blast which was a blower in the ceiling. It felt like I was blowing everyone’s germs round to each other very efficiently.
I always struggle with the AV equipment here. The sound system has been disconnected (due to be fixed) so you have to bring your own speakers to watch any films. The connection points in the floor are miles away from the screen so you have to ask for a special lead. The internet was inconsistent. I felt I ran up and down the stairs a hundred times asking for assistance for something or other. The staff were always very happy to help and do the best they could in the situation. It did not feel fair on them.

Nice air condition rooms set opposite a family pub also has its own breakfast area which is very nice and also do tea in the evening. Lots of parking space and for disabled. Girls at restaurant great. Only downside was the bad attitude of a reception woman who totally ignored us for 10 mins as she was doing her paperwork. Had to report her as this was not acceptable.

From the outside and reception areas the initial impression is that it looks like a decent hotel, until you enter the lift and head to the room that is.
I travelled with my wife and toddler to this hotel and regret not staying in outlr usual brand of hotel for the sake of £30.
2 nights which I'll never get back.
The bathroom was clean but in dyer need of a lick of paint and the wooden frame behind the toilet was held together with celotape. having a toddler that gets into everything showed us the hole under the sink which was packed with loo roll instead of expanding foam or such.
The room had a slight smell of smoke which we could deal with and a few skoots of my deodorant made a diffience, it was then very apparent that previous Tennant's had smoked and were stunning the cigarets on the window ledge. The window it's self was in need of some much love as when the handle was used to open it, the handle almost fell off.
The walls were in need of a lick of paint and had scuff marks etc in various places throughout the room.
I slept in the sofa bed as I couldn't let my child sleep in it as it had more peaks and falls than some music I listen too.
To cap it all off I too a late night walk to reception to get a drink and was charged a whopping £6.60 for a 500ml bottle of water, 500ml bottle of diet Dr pepper and a bounty. Couldn't believe it.
Breakfast was nothing special but after all the other faults we weren't expecting much.
All in all a bad experience and won't be staying at this hotel again.

We used the Campanile on a regular basis until recently. Our last stay - July (4 rooms multiple nights) 2 rooms complained that the stat in the shower was faulty and they had either scalding hot water or freezing cold.
I contacted the manager by phone and email on behalf of the 4 guests and he assured me at the time that they would clean the valves and resolve the issue - they tend to get scaled up and the water temperature issue is a common problem for them.
It didnt happen...I called more than once, I asked to change rooms and the manager lied and told me the hotel was full. I checked online and rooms were available... I called and asked what could be done as I felt a shower that didn't scald the guest should be part of the offering. The manager was very blase and said email head office they will sort it out.
Needless to say I had 4 pissed off people who could not get a wash after work and who wont be returning to this or any other Campanile in the future.
The moral of this story - use another hotel. Campanile are charging above market rate locally and you cant guarantee you will be able to get a shower. Avoid.

The room was OK but the bed ''lumpy'', the toilet bowl was stained.
The electronic card key system was not working so we had to get someone from reception to open our door every time we wanted into our room. This is unacceptable as they were short staffed and it took a while to get anybody to open the room door. Lack of staff behind the desk at night. There was only one man who had to let people into their rooms, check people in, and serve at the bar, it was a joke. We came back to the hotel at 10pm for a quick ''nightcap'' in the bar but the porter/barman/chief bottle washer couldn't get to us before 10;30pm and then had the cheek to say that as it was after 10:30pm we had to pay a £25 deposit to get a drink at this time! He said don't worry you'll get it refunded in the morning. Having seen the total lack of staff and organisation I wasn't prepared to stand in a queue all morning trying to get my money back, so we declined his offer. We had paid extra for a continental breakfast, normally that means cold meats, cheeses, rolls, bread, Croissants, etc. We got a packet of cereal, but no milk until we asked, and toast ! We were offered pain au chocolat, but the tea and coffee were from vending machine which we had to get ourselves. There was no cutlery on the table and the receptionist/front of house/ waiter had to serve us as well as his other numerous jobs. This hotel should not be opened never mind charge people for this well below standard service. The staff did their best but the management should have a good look at themselves for this debacle. We did complain to the front desk and were told that the manager would make financial recompense within 7 days, this did not happen.

It seemed to me that the hotel has been affected badly by the Coronavirus pandemic, as its restaurant is closed, as is the vending machine in the lobby, and one is given paper cups and tea/coffee fixings instead of finding these in your room. A full English breakfast is available still, including a Vegetarian option, but is overpriced in my opinion, being just under £10 pp. There's also a slightly cheaper Continental breakfast, which looked very basic.
There is, however a Harvester restaurant directly across the road, where you can purchase meals and drinks day and evening.

Like Camper602814 we fell foul of customer service in relation to parking. The website states that there is free parking and that no reservation is required. We had travelled to Northampton to attend a funeral the following morning, we arrived late at night, tired and occupied by thoughts of our family. We were not informed of the parking registration requirements when we checked in and, as a consequence, we have been charged £100 by Parking Eye. I have never experienced a check in process that did not include parking registration when required. A complaint to the hotel manager was an exercise in futility, his response was, effectively, that it was my fault that I hadn't read the sign. Clearly Campanile are happy to advertise free parking but absolve themselves of responsibility to ensure that the requirements of Parking Eye, registration within 10 minutes of arrival, are met. I must have stayed at hundreds of hotels and I have seen some stuff but this one is a shocker

The first night the hotel was full and the only room they had left (although booked weeks ago) was a foul smelling room on the first floor. It smelt as if it had been occupied by pipe smokers for the last ten years. We complained but the hotel staff were unable to change a room because they were full. I am asthmatic and it was very uncomfortable, we changed the next day but no rebate was forthcoming.

We arrived at the hotel to be greeted by Peter at reception he was very friendly and had a great sense of humor. The night manager (sorry we didn’t catch his name) is very very friendly and does a great job looking after customers (especially the ones who need extra milk) the friendly staff are the main reason we decided to stay here for an extra few nights. For the price the hotel room is decent nothing fancy but a nice room for a few nights away. Would definitely recommend staying here simply because the staff are very accommodating and the hotel is reasonably priced.

Hi, Yes we do. If you request when booking we can allocate you a room with a bath.
Kind regards
Massimo Berardi
No they don’t.
Not related to your question, but they do have several electric vehicle charging points.
You also need to log your registration number at reception so you don’t get charged for parking.
Not sure about that but give them a ring the staff were helpful enough
They do not have a swimming pool or gym.
Dear Guest,
We are a pet friendly hotel. There is a nominal charge of £5 per night per pet on top of your advertised rate. To book a room with a pet, the best thing to do is to give us a ring on 01604 662599 and we can then take your booking & process your request in an efficient manner.
Thank you
