Had a pleasant evening there 27/02/16 the band was reasonable the staff polite and helpful. we decided to head back for breakfast in the morning, this was a bad mistake the quality was quite frankly disturbing the egg being watery and very much under cooked. the portion size wouldn't of filled a child up. The toast was only just toasted....

I was booked in here by a client I was visiting in the area, as it was just around the corner from their offices. It's a beautiful Inn, inside and out, the room while a little on the small side, was perfectly adequate for the night. I was situated in a room at the back of the Inn, as requested...

Stayed at this beautiful inn for the valentines weekend. Ate in the restaurant Friday night and was very impressed with the pork wellington dish, tender and cooked perfectly. The restaurant manager was very friendly and gave us a fantastic first impression of the hotel. We asked if we could have breakfast later than the 10pm cut of time, and this...

Visited the Walnut Tree inn for a celebration meal, we were seated quickly and it's really warm and welcoming inside. Drinks order was taken quickly and arrived shortly after, food menu is varied and locally sourced so always nice when this happens. Food came quite quickly and was delicious, fish and chips were crispy and tasty. Others had club sandwiches...

We booked our Xmas dinner at the Walnut Tree as we decided that it would be nice not to cook and wash up this year. I have to say that next year we will be cooking and washing up! The staff at The Walnut Tree were great and couldn't do enough for us, but we were seated in The Ellington...

Usual last Thursday of the month comedy night in the room at the back of the pub. 3 comedians will visit for an approx 2hr set - £8 can get busy so it can be advisable to book in advance. Good range of beers at the bar too.

This small hotel is good value for money, the staff are pleasant and the food in the restaurant very good. As a constructive comment, it could do with a bit less modernisation and little more celebration and embrace of it's history. I would certainly stay there again.
