If only more hotels were run as this one is. The very quick and efficient booking had been made by telephone, and was matched by the excellent welcome given to us at check in. Very high standards of cleanliness, food and hospitality mean we would thoroughly recommend The Poplars to anyone wishing to stay in the area.

Stayed here with my husband and son enroute to a holiday further south.
We were taking bikes with us and needed somewhere where we could see them from the room or at least feel that they were secure and this place seemed to offer that so we booked it. Large free parking round the back, we were offered the choice of whether we wanted a room on the ground floor or first floor, I opted for ground floor.
Check in was easy, The room was large and spacious with kettle, biscuits and tea/coffee.
There was a large lounge area with games etc left out to play but as we were o lay there one night we didn’t make use of this.
Walking distance of a couple of pubs (the hotel gave us a map, very handy). We called in the second pub for a drink and then ate at Miller and Carter in the evening.
Slept very well, no noise at all.
The breakfast was beautiful and very well presented. We all had the English breakfast. It was served with a smile and was thoroughly enjoyable.
After we checked out, had a phone call to suggest my son had left his Apple Watch in the room. It was posted on to me at no cost, what an excellent service. I would not hesitate to stay in this hotel next time I am in the area.
The only disappointment was that the dining room was closed in the evening. Given the quality of breakfast, I can only imagine the quality of evening food! However it was no hardship at all to get a taxi and it only cost a few pound. Thank you for a lovely stay.

A comfortable, homely and welcoming hotel. My husband and I often stay here so that we can visit our daughter who lives in the area. It is also an excellent location for exploring the local countryside which is rich in history. Lovely spacious en-suite rooms. We always enjoy the excellent breakfasts which are usually served in the dining room (but this time, due to Covid, it had to be served in our room). Friendly and accommodating hosts.

My husband, sister-in-law, and I travelled from the US and Canada in May 2022 and stayed at The Poplars for a week when we were visiting our mother who is in hospital.

Sarah and her staff were great - going above and beyond the call of duty with helping us print out documents, providing a tasty English breakfast every morning, and enjoying clean rooms when we returned after a long day.

Sarah’s local knowledge was both helpful and entertaining! She, Laura, and Gill were so friendly throughout our stay and supportive when parts of our trip did not go as planned. It truly felt like we were coming “home” each evening.

There is not enough room to say enough good things about The Poplars. For a relaxing, quiet, and welcoming stay, please consider The Poplars!

Absolutely perfect mix of hotel and guesthouse; friendly welcome, outstanding service, beautiful setting. The breakfast was amazing with bacon to die for and homemade marmalade! The owner and staff were friendly and professional. The room was lovely and clean, the bed was comfortable and it was lovely and quiet. The water pressure and temperature in the shower was spot on and the towels were soft and fluffy. Literally not a single thing to complain about, will definitely be staying there again soon!

Excellent large room with all the facilities you need. When we arrived on a very cold wet evening the room was warm and comfortable. My wife and I, had a wonderful full English cooked breakfast. Parking was very easy.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights for my birthday. We could not fault it. The hosts and staff were really nice and the room was quiet, warm and extremely well equipped with everything you might need: tea and coffee making, bottled water, biscuits, all the toiletries, iron and ironing board, good wifi and tv and the beds were very comfortable and the towels soft and fluffy. The breakfasts were amazing and the cooked were done to order and so were fresh and delicious. There were even home-made flapjacks and pancakes with syrup. There was also a good hotel carpark and it was nice to walk round the pretty streets in the village. The hotel was an excellent base for what we wanted to visit: the houses/gardens at Kelmarsh, Lamport, Cottesbrooke, Coton Manor and Holdenby, which were all beautiful. We ate in the evenings at The Ottoman Kitchen, La Pazienza and the Telegraph which were also very well worth recommending.

We arrived late afternoon and was greeted by Susan who made us feel welcome immediately. We were shown to our room which was one of the outer rooms accessed from adjacent to the car park. We were still under the covid 19 regulations but felt very comfortable the way everything was arranged for us. Breakfast was served to our door and was tasty and sufficient.

A warm welcome from Susan the proprietor. Everything about the hotel was explained. We were given room 22 within the main hotel as there are some rooms attached. The room was nicely laid out with sofa, comfy bed, TV on the wall and tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits and complementary bottled water. The room was nice and clean. The adjoining bathroom was adequate and again clean.
Although the hotel restaurant is not currently serving lunch or evening meals, Susan recommended some nice pub/restaurants in this pretty little Northamptonshire village.
Breakfast is served early between 07:00 & 08:30. Nicely laid out the self serve selection is plentiful with cereal, fruit, yoghurt and fresh fruit juice. A nice choice of hot breakfasts cooked to order. The full English breakfast was the star of the show.
A pleasant stay.
