When my family bought the Hopping Hare in 2006 our aim was to create an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, somewhere just a bit different. A place to dine, stay or meet up and relax with friends, family or colleagues. We didn't want it to be stuffy, intimidating or over the top. We set about creating luxurious rooms, a subtle, sophisticated bar with a great selection of quality drinks and a restaurant offering some of the best food to be found in Northampton. As a family owned and operated business, we set the standards on service, value for money, atmosphere and personality. No detail has been overlooked in creating a hotel, restaurant and bar in Northampton with an individual blend of 21st-century chic, high standards and a laid back friendly feel that we are sure you'll begin to notice as soon as you step inside. We've got to know some of our guests well because they come back time after time. In fact, 2010 saw the completion of an extension to the hotel to meet increased demand for accommodation from a growing clientele. My team and I would love to welcome you to stay for brunch, lunch, dinner or just a drink. Once the Hopping Hare is on your radar we guarantee you'll be back. David George, General Manager

Stayed overnight in a room on the first floor at the front and found it to be a cosy and comfortable with everything needed including a comfy bed, good bed linen, fluffy towels and complimentary water. Booked a meal in the restaurant on the evening we had the Pork and the Sea bass which was tasty, the service was also good. The following morning we had breakfast included in the room rate which was excellent, you could help yourself to coffee/juice and cereal and then order anything you wanted from a menu, well presented and good service. Overall it was excellent value for money.

superb food overall. Starters for me Smoked Salmon, fantastic presentation, good flavour probably on the steep price for a starter would be the only criticism. Others had Pork or Mushroom Tartlets and they were very happy. My main Beef Rump and Shin was superb - no other words for it really. Others had fish and chips and burgers which they enjoyed. One person had rump steak which they left as they felt ill. We ordered Mac & Cheese as a side dish, it was delivered as a main and charged as such and they said they didn;t do it as a side - so the waitress should have been told when she put the order in, she was new so not her fault. So overall it would have been five star but a couple of quibbles. £165 for five and no bottles of wine, five diners.

Dear Stitch, Many thanks for your kind review and for the comprehensive feedback. Every dish is cooked in house and I believe that we do offer great VFM for the quality we deliver. I do wish that you had spoken to the Manager on Duty as we would have discounted the cost of the Mac & Cheese as a goodwill gesture. On your next visit please have a word with the MOD and tell him or her about the review and my suggestion and they will look after you. Kind regards, David.

We visit Northamptonshire regularly to visit our family, last weekend the had the pleasure of staying at The Hopping Hare, it was great.
The hotel has ample safe parking.
The check in process was completed very quickly and we were in our room within minutes of arriving. The room was spotless and maintained to a very good standard, if I had one comment it would be that I havn't seen a TV that small for a good number of years!! Worthy of mention is the quality of the toiletries in the bathroom and the quality of the toilet paper and tissues.
We had a superb meal in the hotels restaurant and I do mean a superb meal with excellent service in a great surroundings.
The breakfast was of a similar standard, my wifes request for soya milk and gluten free bread were quickly met, again the service at breakfast was excellent and I have to stay the two ladies on duty were a credit to the hotel.
We will be back, thanks for a great stay.

Our party of 8 took 4 rooms for 2 nights, the arrival was warm and welcoming with all rooms well equipped and spotlessly clean. The bar is well stocked catering for all tastes, breakfast is comprehensive with something for everyone, freshly cooked and served to the table very quickly. The restaurant produces incredibly tasty meals with a great selection of choices, it provides a true fine dining experience. The icing on the cake has to be the cleanliness, every inch of the place has great attention to detail applied. No one in our party could find a single issue that wasn’t dealt with immediately, we look forward to returning in the very near future.

My partner and I visited The Hopping Hare tonight with another couple. We were all absolutely blown away by the quality of the food, we all had 3 courses and every single course was impeccably presented and even tastier than it looked. The wine list was extensive with a huge variety of reds, whites and rosè. The bar had a great selection of premium lagers and real ales, and a complete set of flavours from the Warner Edwards gin range. The service was just incredible, as soon as you asked the waitress for something it was with you within a couple of minutes, the food was nothing less than absolutely delicious, fresh, hot and served with a smile (at least I think they were smiling through their mask), and as I mentioned earlier; immaculately and beautifully presented. Given the current pandemic we are in, it felt like nothing was too much to ask for.
We all very much enjoyed our time here and will be back again very soon - thank you Hopping Hare staff, it was a pleasure to eat and drink in your pub this evening.

Will stay here again.
My very first impression wasn’t good, I was greeted by a grumpy woman who was obviously not interested in another paying customer....wasn’t even that busy. However she eventually thawed. Other staff very pleasant, couldn’t do enough. Food very good. Service excellent. Room was clean, a little snug but adequate. Shower was sparkling clean.
The floors in bedrooms are quite creaky so if a light sleeper could be an issue
There are some very average hotels in the area, would stay here over them.

I booked the Executive Apartment for my parents who had driven down from Chester to visit.

I went with them to check in and we were greeted warmly by a lovely lady who explained where the room was, how to get into the building after closing time of the pub/restaurant and breakfast arrangements.

The apartment itself was fabulous, beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and bright and airy.

My mum reported that she had had the best sleep ever in the bed, stating it was extremely comfortable, followed by a superb shower this morning.

Both mum and dad agreed that their breakfast was delicious too, with lots of choice and nicely prepared.

They have said that when they return, they will not consider staying anywhere else! Voting their stay to be 10 star!

So, thank you to the team at the Hopping Hare, the housekeeping staff, the kitchen staff and front of house for looking after my mum and dad so well, it is appreciated.

My wife and I decided to treat ourselves to a stay and meal at this establishment and had a wonderful time overall. The ambience of the whole place is of comfortable quality. Our room (10) was clean, modern and well equipped and being in the attic was very quiet. We had a meal in the restaurant which was amazing. My only slight negatives were that the lighting in the restaurant in the evening was too bright as there were spotlights onto the table which were too bright and slightly spoil the atmosphere and A purely personal and slightly picky point is that I expect restaurants of this standard to have linen napkins and not paper. The breakfast was of a good quality but did not have a big choice of items ( e.g.. no fruit, yoghurt etc.). Altogether it was a pleasant stay (if a little expensive) and we would not hesitate to stay again.

Dear Clifford, Many thanks for your kind review and for recommending The Hopping Hare. We do try to maintain the very highest standards of cleanliness and comfort throughout the building. In addition, we serve excellent quality food at great value prices, alongside first class customer service. Re your points, the lights in the bar area can be dimmed and we will revisit this. The lights in the conservatory can be redirected and we will also look at whether a change can be made for the better. In the past we did use linen napkins but the feedback we received from customers was that they were a little old fashioned. I am sure you would agree that the friendly and relaxed atmosphere throughout is ideal . We do hope you can stay with us again soon. Kind regards, David.

We stayed overnight on a Friday as two wheelchair users. The building could be accessed via a ramp at the front of the building, next to the disabled parking bay.
In the bar there is a disabled toilet.

They have an accessible room on the ground floor with a fully accessible bathroom/wet room.
The bed was a reasonable height to enable transfer, with enough space to allow two wheelchair users to move around.

We had a romantic and delicious dinner in the restaurant. The staff couldn't have been more attentive, friendly and welcoming. We had also had breakfast in the morning and they accommodated a late check out.

We hope to come back soon, as we had such a pleasurable stay.
