Another great stay at the Ibis Nottingham! Stayed for the Lewis Capaldi gig at the Motorpoint Arena. Twin room was lovely and clean and very quiet at night. Breakfast was plentiful and hot. We always stay here for gigs at the arena and will continue to return. See you in March and April!
I might seem odd to be giving an Ibis a five-star review. It is a standard Ibis in that the rooms are all the same, with a bathroom shower/WC pod in a plastic shell. You know what you're going to get. But Ibis Nottingham is exceptional in many ways. It's in the heart of the city and, at weekend, probably one of the centres of its nightlife. So, if you want to be out most of the night on Friday or Saturday, you won't mind a street-facing room. I can't say whether they are noisy or not. But the hotel has lots of quiet rooms which do not face the street; many of them have lovely views southwards over the city. I have stayed many times and always got a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed. There are always been plenty of hot water and large, thick towels worthy of a much pricier hotel. Best of all, the staff are great. There small touches like cookies in your rom and a bowl of mints outside the lift on the ground floor. I have seen the staff deal with guest problems; they will spend time doing it and they will throw in a free drink or free breakfast if they can't do everything to your satisfaction. Just don't take advantage, because, personally, I've only once had a small problem when they were using contact cleaners…
Myself and my partner stayed in this hotel for 3 nights whilst visiting Nottingham. The hotel was excellent we had no problems whatsoever, staff were so warm and welcoming, room was perfect for us, the room was spotless, and all round a good experience. Excellently priced. Definitely deserve the 5 stars for how amazing the atmsophere of the hotel was, how wonderful helpful the staff were and how positive our stay was. We will definitely be looking at coming back.
Firstly I’d like to start by saying I’ve had the same issues twice now at ibis. On the confirmation email it states ‘refurbished new room, sweet bed’ etc, however, on arrival it was the same old style rooms and yet again, as before, this is false advertising and it’s nothing but a scam so after this experience for the second time I will not be returning to an ibis hotel ever again. The room was large but outdated and the carpets were lifting in the edges of the room, there were large cracks under the windowsill that let in a draft. The headboard on the bed had a very large and prominent white stain on it which appeared to have dripped down onto my pillow, every now and again I’d forget it’s there and my head would be resting on someone else’s filthy stain, how lovely indeed. Our duvet had blood stains on, as well as one of the towels, which was also most disgusting and lastly there was an extremely large brown stain on the wall. Seems as though we were picking up the aftermath of the people before us and the cleaners had failed to do their job correctly before we arrived. Out of the several things that are wrong with this hotel, the bit that infuriated me the very most is being told we were going to be charged for leaving our bag for not even 2 hours before our train home. Every single hotel I’ve stayed in over many many many years, believe me I’ve stayed in several, allow guests to leave luggage without any charge, even other ibis hotels allow you to leave luggage for free. This is single-handedly the most ridiculous and cheekiest thing I’ve ever heard. All I can say is don’t bother staying here, they say it’s cheap and cheerful, sadly the latter is false. Certainly nothing cheerful about this hotel. There are several hotels in Nottingham that are up to scratch, this one failed miserably. The staff were also rude and unwelcoming, seems as if none of them can do their job correctly. All need retraining in their respective areas - be it customer service and indeed knowing how to clean a room properly.…
The first room provided, had mould inside around window frame, then was moved to a room on the first floor, which had very loud noises of drunk people in the street, I couldn't sleep till 2am, till I called them and to move me to another room. I had an exam next morning and I couldn't sleep!! Very unprofessional, I told them I had an exam and needing a quiet room, but nobody bothered!!
What went right might be too short to write, so lets talk about all the things that went wrong. No parking at the hotel (for rental cars) - you have to park across the road at the parking garage. The lift (all two of them) took forever to arrive (that is when they were working - the left lift was out of action for at least 2 days). The room was so small you couldn't even swing a cat and the windows wouldn't close properly. They are so worried about people stealing that even the soap and shampoo are bolted to the walls. On the positive side it was very central to everything, but still won't stay there again, considering the price was very similar to other hotels in the area.
My go to hotel when in Nottingham. Always get a top floor quiet room at the rear. Air con quickly warms the room up. Excellent roller blind and curtains blackout the room overnight. Nice spacious breakfast room with a good hot and cold buffet. Excellent location for exploring by train, tram, bus or on foot. Comfy pillows and a cosy duvet but the slim style mattress feels over firm and after 2 nights I was craving my own bed again!
Where do I start? The carpet was filthy - see photo attached which is just one of the stains. The room overall wasn't clean and I had to use antibacterial wipes to clean all surfaces before I could put my belongings down. There was hair on the ceiling in the shower and also by the hand soap pump by the sink - see other photos. Even though I asked to be put in a quieter part of the hotel, my room was at the front. The issue with this is the tram stop is situated right outside the front of the hotel, so there was a lot of noise from that and from people boarding and alighting the trams. Also, as the hotel is in the city centre, at night and until the early hours of the morning, the air was filled with the noise of drunken revellers. And with the antisocial behaviour of other guests on several of the nights (the last night particularly), it made for a far from relaxing stay. All of the above are the reasons why I won't stay here again, and you shouldn't stay here either. I shall be filling in the survey they've just sent me and will also write a formal complaint to Accor who own this hotel chain.…
As well as a good nights sleep in a warm room with lovely bathroom facilities we found the management brilliant and more than helpful, full of surprises and if we return Nottingham, which is not a given as the drive in and out caused me pay £70 FOR DRIVING IN BUS LANES THAT I DIDN'T SEE.
Good location, spotlessly clean. One downside the hotel supposedly has a discount arrangement with the lace car park opposite hotel. This is not the case and you only find this out when you come to pay which is very annoying. The hotel staff seem to be unaware of the situation even though prior to our arrival they had confirmed a £6 discount and yes it would put me off staying here again.
