Although the Hotel décor was rather dated, the room was pleasant and quiet and bathroom had a really powerful shower and all was immaculately clean. The outstanding kindness and friendliness of the staff really made our visit a pleasure. The breakfast was brilliant, all tastes catered for, tables presented well and again, service efficient and friendly

We very much enjoyed the ambience of this character rich property. We were greeted with a warm smile and nothing was too much trouble. We were in the top floor room and happily climbed the stairs to our comfy room that had all we needed, clean and modern ensuite, TV, tea & coffee making facilities. The wifi worked quite well,...

This hotel has very pleasant staff and is in an excellent location, but the property is very tired. The rooms are clean but shabby and the bathroom is very cramped, as for the shower (not good) above the bath with a curtain that was too short, not a pleasing experience. The tv was very small and there seemed to be...

We received a very warm welcome when we arrived early for an overnight stay at this reasonably priced Hotel. Our luggage was put in a locked room whilst we went off to walk along the Thames path, access to the path being no more than 25 metres away. Another warm welcome when we returned at seven o'clock. The room was...

Great people and excellent location. I really appreciated the attentiveness of staff upon our arrival and their willingness to accommodate our early departure the next morning. They provided us with breakfast tray. Very pleasant all around.

Once again I was hosted to a stay that involved no drama at a very reasonable cost. As a repeat guest, I seemed to be treated quite royally. Sought after and full during the Skoll World Forum, breakfast is a rare experience of made-to-order wonderful food and superb conversation with other delegates. Those in the search of a better world...

The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Our room was well equipped, quiet and everything worked. the breakfasts were good. It was only a short walk to the city centre and even shorter to the station and there were also lots of buses. The little garden by the river was a bonus, and we would also recommend the restaurant opposite

The hotel is perfectly situated near the centre of Oxford, also in proximity of several scenic walking routes along the river. The building and the surroundings are well maintained, the room was well furnished and comfortable.

Location and service were great; only problem was TV that could only be viewed straight on without losing resolution -- we had to stand for best picture. Internet not always available. Minor problems that would not keep us from staying here again, but keep us from giving River Hotel the top rating.

My son and I were at the end of Day 5 of walking the Thames Path from the source of the Thames to London. We arrived soaking wet, muddy and bedraggled. Our muddy shoes were taken to the drying room and we were warmly welcomed. We had an early departure by train and it was a treat to find we...
