After a refurbishment and reopened today, we came across this establishment whilst in Oxford for the day. Was so impressed by the welcome and the helpful general Manager Bryan that we decided to stay for lunch. The lunch and service both superb, we will return. We were also shown the room, very tastefully done and immaculate. Would recommend this as...

We visited the Head of the River on a sunny Saturday at 1.30 in the afternoon. Only to discover after a long walk that it was only open to family and friends of the owners! We politely asked could we stop for a quick drink but were told this was not possible as the owner would not allow it. There...

Went to their 'soft opening' to test out the refurbishment. Can highly recommend it! First went to this pub nearly 40 years ago so a trip down memory lane and wasn't disappointed! Stylish bars, great staff, good food and a very comfy bed in which to retire too! Stayed in the Dudley Moore room which is snug but well thought...

I loved my stay at the Head of the River. As a Narnia fan, it was a real treat to stay in the CS Lewis room. I enjoyed the gorgeous decor, comfortable bed and fabulous service. I ate in the restaurant each evening, and enjoyed my meals. I hope to return sometime soon.

Location was good, the room not well soundproofed, not enough light and no sockets near a mirror. I couldn't open a window but had airconditioning. Good service because I had a coffee machine, a kettle, lots of tea bags, coffee capsules, biscuits which were replaced every day, plus complimentary water bottles. Moreover they offer complimentary cosmetic products. Breakfast was very...

We stayed here for one night on January 13th. We booked this because it was close to a restaurant where we were having a company dinner, and specifically booked a premium rate to get the parking included. On receiving the confirmation, the hotel had charged a higher rate than had been advertised on hotels.com. I called immediately, and was advised...

We booked into the hotel for 1 night. Lovely setting and hotel on first glance. We didn't realise that the hotel was about to be closed for a re vamp. It felt like the hotel was closing in 3 days so we have given up.. We called the day before to check something only to be told we weren't booked...

I didn'n think it was very good, but it was good. Which I think is better than average. But not being able to have breakfast before 8.30 was really disappointing and in fact bit of a problem (that couln't be met by having a sandwich on the way to my conference!). Most of the personnel were really very friendly.
