We stayed here for a one night Malmaison special, the Sunday stopover, which is fantastic value, we paid £25 for the room which is on the basis you spend £75 in the hotel restaurant on food/drinks - in other words the room will cost a maximum of £100, but you can, as we did, stay, eat and drink for £100,...

I stayed here recently for my birthday with my partner. I have to say I've wanted to stay here for many years (mainly because Bad Girls was filmed here) and I wasn't disappointed ! The castle was stunning. The room was beautiful, clean and full of character. I would stay here again without a doubt. As I was celebrating a...

The hotel is set in a former jail in Oxford Castle and the decor shows this to its advantage. It is full of character. The room was beautifully decorated following the prison theme, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly & gave great service. They have retained an original cell downstairs which shows the history...

Modern room with walk-in shower and bath. Room smaller than expected (in 2 converted jail cells - well converted. Spacious gallery outside room, and a preserved museum cell as used in 'Porridge' comedy show. Good TV with too few channels. Good Brasserie, with well cooked food, but lacking atmosphere, the old Prisoners Mess. Lighting throughout too muted/.Room lights need more...

Stayed here for 1 night for a friends birthday, and had a private dining room experience for dinner in the evening. The main part of the hotel has been converted from a prison, and each room is formed of 3 original cells. The attention to detail is great with the original features in place. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and...

Not only was this hotel a former castle with great history, but it was also a jail. Rooms are really unique. Free wifi, nice comfortable bed. Lots of great character at this hotel and the bar was fun with a nice wine selection. Would definitely stay here when visiting oxford again.

Met our eldest son here and stayed 2 nights in superior room. Eldest stayed in similar room next door. Theme of prison was clear throughout and on the whole was great. Room spacious and bathroom was ok. Sink plug unit was very difficult and broken but we managed. My sons fridge in the room did not work and was not...

We stayed here for one night for my boyfriends 21st birthday. Upon arrival I will just say that it's not very clear where to park your car if you have paid for parking or if you can drive down the drive but we did anyway and luckily we was right! After checking with the reception as we checked in, they...

We dropped our son and girlfriend and decided to have a night in Oxford. We'd read mixed reviews but we loved it. If you like quirky interesting hotels in an urban style, then you should like it. If you like a traditional hotel with bright lighting and carpets, then don't try this one. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. We stayed...
