The Malmaison in Oxford is a lovely hotel. It is different from bog-standard hotels as it was previously a prison but has been refurbished to a high standard. My sister and I stayed in a room in the main building which overlooked the Castle mound, although we did have a quick look at the original section of the building which...

I have loved the look of this hotel for years and was lucky enough to visit the Oxford Malmaison in September 2014 as a treat for our second anniversary! We stayed in the A Wing in the old prison for one night in a superior room, which was a good size and included a big bathroom with a roll top...

A lovely hotel with some great history and most of the staff are very well equipped to tell you about that element of the building. The food was great as was the choices of drinks to accompany it. Good location in the town centre with a couple of minutes walk to be in the city.

There are not many city centre hotels, and The Mal has converted the old prison into a hotel, retaining some of the character you would expect. Some rooms are in a new build extension, that lack the historic charm, but are well proportioned with larger windows. Car parking is limited, but it is near the station and all city centre...

we had the best time staying in one of the cells - exciting, romantic, comfortable and the setting is incredible. Super easy walk to the town centre for drinks. However the cocktail bar was a slight disappointment - but the staff were great!

My husband and I took an overnight special break at Malmaison in Oxford, for anniversary and birthday. The former prison in Oxford and what a wonderful and unusual setting! Really well adapted, but you do not loose the feel of its former use! Our room was lovely in the House of Correction, very comfortable. The food was very nice and...

Firstly, the staff here are AMAZING. Some of the best we have ever come across and they need credit where credit is due. Every single one we met was incredibly helpful and welcome. An absolute asset to the establishment. We'd paid for parking (it is pricey so factor this in £28 ish a day), upon arrival it wasn't clear where...

Firstly, the staff may remember the couple with the Buddha! We stayed for my birthday, & took advantage of the Sunday night offer to book a duplex suite (worth checking the hotel website re offers). Without exception the staff were lovely - & most of them loved our Buddha too. Taking things in order: On arrival there was a long...

ALL I CAN HEAR IS BAD CLUB MUSIC. Doof doof doof doof... We are staying in the "New Road" section of the hotel - this part of the hotel is not in the prison so is missing all of the character of the cell block rooms. The room is nicely decorated in a modern style, spacious and mostly clean. A...

The staff were without exception, extremely attentive and polite. From the check-in desk to the restaurant, they went out of their way to make my stay pleasant. The room was well furnished and stylish. My only criticism was that the shower did not run with hot water at 06:45 the next morning so, after a very comfortable night's sleep, I...
