The stay at the Marlborough Arms in the centre of Woodstock was a Valentine's gift from my wife. Being one of the oldest coaching inns in Woodstock it advertises itself as as a luxury bed and breakfast. This is an establishment in two minds. It is proud of its heritage but seems to making the best of a dip in...

The main thing going for the Marlborough Arms seems to be it's location. Right on the main street (we had a room at the front of the building and didn't hear any any traffic noise during the night) and located very close to Blenheim Palace and other attractions. There are also plenty of eating places nearby. Our room was 'nice',...

A wonderful hotel nestling in the middle of Woodstock town. The room we stayed in was very spacious and well appointed (room 10) with a separate huge bathroom with a free standing roll top bath and separate shower cubicle. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Although the hotel doesn't offer dining facilities it does...

Thank you for taking the time to write your lovely review, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and that you found room 10 to your liking.  As you mentioned we do not offer lunch or dinner as we feel we are perfectly placed in Woodstock for our guests to enjoy all the restaurants, pubs and Blenheim Palace...

The Hotel met most of our expectations in all honesty. The room itself was a Deluxe Double Room and it was clean and tidy with an enormous bed. The toilet/shower room though was absolutely tiny which although supplied with towelling had only the most basic small bottled shower/conditioner liquids. Our room was situated at the front of the hotel and...

Thank you for your kind review, we are so glad  overall  you had a pleasant say and that you enjoyed your cooked and continental breakfast. . Unsurprisingly, being an old coaching inn some of our bedrooms face the road but all  have new triple glazing   As mentioned in our previous review, we are a Bed and Breakfast and not a Hotel and our Receptionists stay until...

Disappointed with the standard of room, bathroom extremely small, traffic noise all night from the main road going through the town as we were at the front of the property. We paid £260 for two nights in a double bed room which considering the location is not too bad. The whole place seems rather tired. We went out for a...

Thank you for writing your review, we are sorry you were disappointed with your room and that you found the Hotel to be 'rather tired '    We find this comment surprising as we have, over the last 5 years, invested a lot of time and money into upgrading the hotel and feel that it is far from 'tired'.  We also have...

Stayed one night at the hotel in a deal, convenient position with free parking. Nice spacious room, comfortable bed and good bathroom. Marketed as luxury bed and breakfast and could do with a few extra touches to live up to that, e.g. Bottle of water in room,, quality toiletries, menu at breakfast with choices of cooked not just full English....

We were treated, by our daughters, through Secret Escapes, to a night at the Marlborough Arms, a 15th century former coaching inn. Our first impressions of the Marlborough Arms were great ... we walked straight off the High Street and entered the days of yore - we walked down a cobbled alley with an 'old fashioned' shop windows on either...

25 family members met here to celebrate 50th birthday. Meal was delicious. Rooms comfortable and spacious. Staff friendly and helpful. Minor detail the shower took a while to warm up though. Lovely little town!

I found it over priced for what was delivered. I was charged £89 for one night for one person for a basic room nothing out of the norm. The heating wasn't even on so the room was cold. Breakfast was very basic. I understand they only serve breakfast no other meals but at least have someone who can cook it...

Thank you for taking the time to write your review.  However we are sorry you were disappointed with your stay but we are glad our staff were friendly and welcoming.  Our chefs would have cooked you something special if you did not want a full English breakfast (95% of our guests choose this option however) or if there was nothing...

My wife and I and 6 friends have just returned home from a short break in Woodstock. We all stayed at the Marlborough Arms. A fantastic old coaching inn. Thank you for lovely review, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. The Marlborough Arms is a 15th Century Coaching Inn which has been extensively refurbished over the years.  We have tried to keep as many original features as possible, but also introduced modern equipment such as Nespresso Machines and flat screen televisions in most of the room for the comfort of our guests. ...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Marlborough Arms is a beautiful 15th century coaching inn, situated in the heart of Woodstock, overlooking historical streets and offers Bed and Breakfast. Whilst guests can enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings they still have good links to the M40. The hotel has been elegantly finished in a classic style in-keeping with the character of the building and surrounding area, with contemporary touches throughout. Guests can also take advantage of the inn's own car park located directly behind the property. Each of the thirteen luxurious en-suite bedrooms are all individually themed with a focus on comfort and relaxation. All rooms differ in shape, size and style, ranging from the Cobalt Room, which is situated overlooking the courtyard which has a contemporary feel with beautiful sensuous fabrics and natural morning light, through to the Sepia Room, which is a very large room with a striking interior of deep greys and gentle soft tones, set off with modern lamps and cushions. All of the rooms have flat screen televisions, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdriers, irons and ironing boards. Some have baths, some large walk-in showers and some rooms are equipped with both! ... more   less
