The website photographs are in no way representative of the rooms, which, like the rest of the hotel, are run down - my particular example had paint flaking off the walls, carpet which didn't fit, dirty bedsheets, no bedside lamp, etc. - see my photos for a flavour of the experience. The selection of cereals etc. is good but the...

The exterior pictures of the hotel on booking web sites and their web site are very misleading as the hotel is on a busy street, in residential area and needs a bit of repair and paint. The closest place to eat is a pub about 10 minute walk, and it's a good 15-20 minute walk into Reading on busy roads,...

Stayed here on and off in 2015........usually in an ensuite room at the back although the room number did vary. Rooms were tidy - although could have done with a deep clean. I didn't have any issues with external noise, but the noise from other residents/kitchen etc meant I was usually awake by 5.30am, and often kept awake until late...

I stayed at the hotel for three nights. It was booked by an agency, which got what was probably the cheapest room in the hotel, a small basement room with no bathroom. I didn't like it and asked to be moved to a more spacious room. For more 20£ per day I was given a very good, bright and clean...

The room was clean and comfortable. The owner was very friendly and helpful. It was a quiet room and well positioned for Reading Station for travel into London for business. There was no bedside lamp in the room which would have been useful.

Arrived to find that the hotel was run down and in poor order especially outside. It was built 195 years ago and certainly a very long time since it has been repaired or painted. Went by it and thought should I go in, but it was a Sunday and not sure where else I could say. The photos on their...

Was welcomed by the very friendly receptionist when I arrived at around 6pm, she also offered me her local knowledge on buses which was great for me. The room was a single, no ensuite, fitted with a sink and working free view TV. The sheets were clean and bed comfortable but the room was a little chilly, and it backed...
