Booked a room here while property hunting in Reading. About 10 minutes walk from the town centre but quiet (at least in the rear rooms). Room was spacious and equipped with a microwave and cutlery for a basic meal but breakfast was provided downstairs by the friendly landlord.

I stayed here after a party in Reading. It is walking distance from the town centre which is very convenient. The room was very clean and comfortable with lovely quality bedding! The facilities in the room are very good. There is even a small fridge and microwave oven! I loved the hospitality box which contained snacks and the usual variety...

I highly recommend this guest house - friendly, low-key, relaxed base. Really comfortable bed, great facilities, but the best bit was the gorgeous garden our room overlooked. Lovely mature trees and so nice to wake to the sound of doves, blackbirds etc. 15 mins walk to train station, 3 mins to local pub, and c. 10 mins to town centre....

It is a very clean, well run place with Nicholai providing all the help and information you need as well as working hard to sort a continental breakfast. It has become a home from home and it is a 10 minute walk into Reading centre with 15 minutes to...

By the time I made it to the Amherst Guest House, I was at the end of my journey and my last few hotels had few basic amenities and little concern for what I needed. The Amherst is a gem tucked away in Reading that is very close to the station. My room was cozy, clean and had attention to...

We stayed at The Amherst over the Bank Holiday Weekend and was very impressed. We arrived earlier than we should have but we were still able to come straight in and get comfortable. The owner printed a map of the area so we knew where everything was which was helpful and considerate. The bed was comfy and best of all...
