We were a group of 9 adults and 3 young children. This was our second attempt to find a suitable place to feed and water our troupe. We found seating and were made very welcome. The pub was extremely busy, but the service was very efficient. The food arrived, unfortunately 2 items were missing but to the staffs credit this... More

Range of pies done really well. Good beer selection including 'Mild' which was delicious. Local pub for local people too. Everyone very friendly though and nobody stared at the strangers. Well worth diverting to see Ludlow and eat lunch here.

We booked for easter lunch with our 5 year old and disabled son. The menu was mainly pies, but they were delicious and included typical kid's meals. It was tricky with our son's wheelchair with a small step in the entrance and narrow doorway, but they bent over backwards to help us and the service overall was excellent.

We visited Ludlow on 23 March 2016. Although the menu is limited the presentation and quality of food provided was a delight. I had a ploughman's as it should be, pickles, cheese, ham, bread and a little salad. The atmosphere was happy and friendly and the fire was so warming it was a pleasure to be there. I have been... Stopped here for lunch which was very busy and a couple moved round so that we could "squeeze" in to a pew! Very friendly banter in progress with the locals. Ordered local brewed beer and wine then selected ham sandwiches. These arrived on large plates with a mixed salad and the ham was plentiful and excellent in granary bread. Very... More

The Church Inn used to be our lunch spot of choice on our frequent visits to Ludlow. Even though the last couple of visits had been 'hit & miss' both food and service wise we decided to give them another try today. Unfortunately today was definitely a 'miss'and our visit lasted less than ten minutes. Although the pub was not... More

We booked in on Friday 12 feb 2016 for 2 nights. When we got to our room you could write your name in the dust on top of the telly, set of drawers and mirror, the bath was also dirty. We were unable to find a manager on Friday, so after breakfast we asked a lady if she was the... More

We saw that this a dog friendly pub so went in and asked if it was ok to eat with our dog and where would be OK. Anywhere downstairs was the answer! So we had a nice few drinks, and a ploughman sand a veggie pie, all very nice, nothing to shout about but would go back as had a... More

We were looking for somewhere for a late breakfast. Our usual place was over busy, so we tried the Church Inn. Lovely food, but even better they're a pub, so a pint of Hobson's mild was on offer. Yum! Good clean dining room, and friendly service. The pie menu looked interesting too

My husband and I had lunch here on January 17th. What a treat. I had the chicken pie my husband had steak with blue cheese. We both said they were the best pies we had ever eaten. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were staying at the Feathers but wished we had booked in here. The menu at the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Church Inn stands on one of the most ancient sites in Ludlow, going back at least seven centuries and for much of that time was known as the Cross Keys. As a pub, it serves 10 of the finest Ales it can find, with a lot of them being from local brewers, providing you with a real flavour of local beer. If you would like to try something stronger, then check out the selection of superb Single Malt Whiskys we have on our top shelf. Maybe you would like to get in from the cold? Well then we serve a Mulled Wine or a Delicious Winter Pimms, for only £3.65 per cup. If you just fancy a tea or coffee, we can provide that too. As for lunchtime food, we serve a wide selection of Sandwiches, Baguettes and Salads as well as our Church Inn Breakfast, 12.00pm-2.30pm. However if you would like to have a real taste of the Ludlow life, then try one of our famous Pies from the Ludlow Pie Company - all made from ingredients within a 30 mile radius, and prepared for you in our kitchen; we have Pies that will not only satisfy your hunger, but also feed your amusement with the variety and choice of Pie names! A selection of our Pies are available at Lunch 12.00pm-2.30pm and Dinner 6.30pm-9.00pm (8.30pm Sunday). If you are unfortunate enough to want a Pie but don't have the time to sit down and enjoy our surroundings, do not worry as we can provide you with a take-out one during these times! For our lunch or dinner service you are able to pre-book a table for your group in our JB lounge (upstairs); however if you would just like to pop in and see what we offer, then feel free. We can cater for group bookings - Family Meals, Buffets, Staff Outings - and the JB lounge has the comfort factor with a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere. If you are looking for a place to rest your head for a night or two, are just passing through, have work to attend to or a large reunion to organise, then we can offer you one of our 8 en-suite rooms. We supply one Twin Room, two Family Rooms, Standard and Deluxe Doubles, (all available with single occupancy rates from Monday-Thursday) with Freeview TV, full English Breakfast - and all in a central town location. ... more   less
