This is our 2nd stay at the Prince Rupert. We have stayed in Shrewsbury several times now and this hotel is by far the best in town. The hotel staff are very polite and courteous and a credit to the owners. Room was warm and immaculately clean, breakfast was also very good. Overall worth paying a little extra if you...

Went with friends to Shrewsbury and stayed at the Prince Rupert Hotel. As always we were greeted warmly with friendly smiles by very helpful staff. The valet car parking here is a great bonus, as is the hotels position in the middle of the town. We dropped our bags and cars off, had a complimentary glass of sherry and went...

What a fantastic location this hotel is set being in a very old part of the town yet 50 yards from the High St. Plenty of very old buildings and pubs, bars and cafes within the area (we visited 2 cocktail bars and a pub right next to the hotel, very handy on a cold and wet night!) We ate...

What a fab place. My friends organised a night away for a joint birthday. What a beautiful building parts of which date back to the 12th Century. It's right in the middle of town yet a quiet location. Both birthday girls were upgraded to the Prince Rupert and Prince Morris suites. (Nothing ghostly experienced though much to my disappointment). The...

I visited with a group of 6 friends to celebrate a birthday. The hotel was very accommodating and made up all three rooms so we could check in earlier and decorate one as a surprise. Each room was really lovely, very comfortable beds and brand new, stylish bathrooms! The breakfast, which was included was excellent, and the staff were very...

We came to stay at the Prince Rupert for just a night and we had a lovely time. This was from the moment that we arrived at Reception and handed in our car keys so it could be parked up for us in the hotel car park nearby ( this service costs £5 and is worth every penny), whilst we...

Excellent service, even down to the ability of leaving our luggage at the hotel while we spent our last day in town. Very comfortable room. Ideal location for exploring the town. Enjoyed the olde worlde surroundings in the hotel.

The historic grade II listed Prince Rupert Hotel is situated in the very heart of medieval Shrewsbury and just a short stroll from the individual shops and many tourist attractions. Surrounded by narrow cobblestone streets and black and white timbered buildings it provides the perfect base to explore beautiful Shrewsbury. A warm and friendly welcome is always provided to all guests with a glass of sherry on arrival. With the heritage of the hotel dating back to the 12th and 15th century, character and charm abound with sloping floors, exposed Tudor beams and a restored Jacobean staircase. Privately owned for many years by Michael & Diane Matthews, the hotel offers a great choice of dining all with a focus on fresh local produce. The Royalist is ideal for a special occasion with an a la carte menu together with a superb wine list. Chambers brasserie is renowned for its traditional British menu at sensible prices and located at the front of the hotel overlooking the gardens of St. Alkmunds square, Camellias Tea Rooms offers an extensive menu selection including traditional afternoon tea served on a three tier cake stand.
