We went to Shrewsbury, and stayed at the Lion overnight. We had dinner in the restaurant which waswonderful and very well served. The room was warm and quirky with an uneven floor as the hotel dates back to many years. A really enjoyable evening and stay, we will certainly go again.

This hotel is ideal for exploring central Shrewsbury and surrounding areas, lots of shops, castle, museums and we were lucky enough to walk round the farmers market which was there in the Friday and Saturday, lots of great food stalls. Most of the attractions are within walking distance. The hotel, although looking a bit tired in places, (worn carpets and...

Booked a two night stay through Secret Escapes, and it was extremely good value. Although the room was small, it was warm, clean and charming. The hotel has kept all of the traditional characteristics of an old hotel with a long historic background. Beautiful furniture, quirky lift and helpful staff. The breakfast was good and served with a smile each...

Seizing the opportunity to stay in the Dickens Suite, we had a chance to enjoy the historic atmosphere of the room, complete with its uneven floors, oak beams and tiny balcony overlooking Wyle Cop (just as described by Charles Dickens in 1838). The room is alleged to have its own ghost, but I slept too well to notice if it...

My, but this hotel is noisy. The noise from the lift is constant (they know about it because they turn the lift off about midnight because of the noise). Our room was immediately above a lounge where there was a large group, and we could hear every word. Then in the evening, it sounded as if the people in the...

It's just quietly comfortable nich staff and good food. The breakfast staff are exceptional. We love to just sit in the lounge and relax over a pot of coffee. Parking is great in a town that is difficult - to say the least!
