We booked for a special event celebrating a graduation we all took part in. It was close to the university and was the perfect venue at which to meet. The staff were welcoming attentive and efficient. The rooms were excellent and beautifully appointed. I would certainly recommend this hotel.
Bathen House is an absolute dream. A lovely clean hotel where we were looked after extremely well by very polite staff. The room was spotless, brightly lit with beautiful decor. I loved the lighting in the bathroom where putting on make up was not having to squint into a dim mirror:) The location is great too. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel that takes you into the city centre, so you can leave your car at the hotel . Although, after indulging in a heavy meal in Bath City Cente, the 30 minute walk back to the hotel on a lovely warm evening was enjoyable. The hotel has one of the freshest, best breakfast we've had for quite a while.
This was the first time my family have visited this place, and was not disappointed at all. We were celebrating a family birthday in the evening so cannot comment on the rooms, but the food was first class, so was the ambience, attentive staff (not overly) which was good. We live near Bath and would definitely recommend to friends, and will return again. Well worth a visit.
Booked the Deluxe King Room for 1 night for around £180 including breakfast for 1 person. I really like that on the booking site that I used, I could choose to book the room with no breakfast, breakfast for 1 or 2 person(s), not being forced to pay for 2 breakfasts when I only need 1. The location is away from the city centre which has its pro and con. Pro being in a quiet area, con being quite a hassle to get to if you don’t drive, I took bus no. 20 from the city centre, the bus stops right outside the hotel but there was only 1 bus each hour on weekdays and it was more than 15 mins late, not Bathen House’s problem but people who plan to stay here and aren’t planning to drive should be aware of this, especially if you have quite full on plans to explore Bath. My room is No. 1 with its own entrance on the ground floor, the room is spacious, clean, huge comfy bed, nice bathroom but very tight, good bathtub though, with separate shower and toiletries, also snacks and drinks in the room are included. It was 20 degrees at night but a little stuffy inside as the room is half in basement with only 1 tiny window that can open, fan is provided and helped with air flow and cooled the room down. TV quite small. Also the room feels a bit barren and definitely not professionally designed, pictures are too small for where they are placed, the furniture style is a bit here and there, the fan and heater look the most budget friendly type, a carpet on top of carpet in front of the sofa (maybe to cover some stains?). I personally do not like basement and wish I have been given a room with proper windows on upper level. Also pics of this particular room were not shown on the booking site nor on their own website, so it was different to what I was expecting and unfortunately it was worse and not nicer. Have to say online pictures look far nicer than the actual place. Staff are lovely and friendly. Breakfast is served 8-10am, I had the full English breakfast which is lovely, scrambled egg cooked well, I like the bacon are not the dry hard crispy ones, just wish there were 2 hash brown. Appreciate they allowed me to check-out 30 mins later. There was nothing wrong with the stay but was pretty disappointed with the room I stayed in.…
We stayed in a Junior Suite back in May for our 10 year wedding anniversary and it was the perfect weekend away. The room was a great size and really clean. In fact the whole hotel just feels clean and fresh. The bath tub was huge! Loved it! Staff were all amazing! And the food was exceptional. We'll definitely be returning at some point.
I live locally and walk by Bathen House every day so haven't stayed but my 5* are for the beautiful hanging baskets and the plantars hanging from the railings surrounding the front of the property. They are absolutely beautiful and a credit to everyone. Thankfully they have a watering system to help keep the flowers in tip top condition. Well done.
We had a two night stay at Bathen House and were not disappointed at all. The hotel was immaculately clean and fresh. The room was fantastic, comfortable and welcoming. All the staff we encountered were friendly, polite and more than willing to help in any way they could. Breakfast also did not disappoint, the eggs royale were perfect and there’s plenty of choice on the continental buffet. Should we visit Bath again, then Bathen House will be our choice of hotel.
My husband and I have just returned from a 2 night stay at Bathen House and we’ve had the most incredible time! To start, the hotel is spotlessly clean and every single staff member we met were all so friendly and polite. It seems like they genuinely enjoy working there which is so lovely to see! Our room was exactly like the photos, the bathroom was beautiful. The hotel is also so quiet, we had a wonderful nights sleep! On arrival, we added breakfast to our room rate and we’re so glad we did! It was delicious! The poached eggs were cooked to perfection :) Unfortunately, we didn’t get to try the restaurant as it’s closed on Monday and Tuesday evenings but we will definitely be returning so we can try this. Thank you to every staff member at Bathen House who made our stay so enjoyable! See you again!…
We only spent one night here but it was fabulous! The staff were incredible and helped us to our rooms with our cases up to the top floor. The rooms were immaculately clean and the facilities were excellent. Big spacious rooms with a beautiful view. Again, the staff were excellent. Would definitely stay here again!
Deeply disappointing, the weekend was booked for my birthday/mother’s day. When we arrived there was no wardrobe, dirt on the window frames and skirting boards. The website stated there was a free mini bar, which consisted of a few cans of soft drinks and a few bottles of water. This was never restocked for our whole stay. The carpet was worn and the cushions were scagged!! Our room wasn’t cleaned once despite speaking to the receptionist and asking for it to be done. And to top it all off on our last night I was running a bath and they had switched the hot water off to our room thinking we had left. This was the last straw and when we complained we were given a 50% refund. I felt so disappointed and misled. I would not return or recommend this hotel to anyone. 5 star price for 2 star hotel…
