We found Spears Cross B&B to be perfectly located in Dunster, with the castle entrance, restaurants, shops and walks all within minutes walk. As others have said, Cliff was a superb host and we very much appreciated all the attention to detail, the quality of everything supplied and all the 'little extras' which made our visit so special! Breakfast was...

My husband and I spent three nights, from 26 February to 29 February 2016. We cannot fault anything. The very friendly welcome was followed with tea and cake. Cliff and Tricia were very helpful during the entire stay. The breakfasts were superb, - excellent quality, locally sourced ingredients and very well prepared. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean....

We've just returned from a weekend at the Spears Cross and we loved everything about it. First class accommodation in a fascinating and lovingly restored building, extra tasty breakfasts and genuinely warm hospitality from owners Cliff and Tricia. Excellent location close to village and castle and a great base for walking. Thanks to our climate, a winter weekend away in...

We have had the pleasure of staying in quite a few places in this country and abroad but we can honestly say this place ranks right up there with the best. The attention to detail in every respect is astonishing, from the Penhaligon toiletries in the bathroom to the locally made mint chocolates left on the bedside table at "turn-down...

Spears Cross is most certainly not a Holiday Inn, thank goodness. It just oozes character, and sits right in the middle of a medieval village, with lots of lovely restaurants, tea rooms, and shops. And.. ..let's not forget the Castle. We had the pleasure of staying three nights in the Porlock Room - it was definitely the right choice. I...

Recently stayed at Spears Cross for 3 nights in the Selworthy Suite. Quite simply the perfect B&B! I'll start with the breakfasts. Delicious locally sourced food and plenty of it, you have to try the hogs/black pudding, wow!! Location. A great base for exploring Exmoor and surrounding areas as well as being right bang in the middle of what has...

We have just returned from spending two nights at Spears Cross. From the minute that we arrived, until we left, the welcome was fantastic. The building is located right next to the imposing Dunster Castle, in a pretty and historic village, and is a beautiful old building. The rooms are well furnished and the bedding, toiletries, etc., are all of...

We stayed at Spears Cross for a relaxing weekend, and decided to book based on the reviews on here. We weren't disappointed - nice comfortable room, spotless bathroom, delicious breakfast with plenty of choices (especially the smoked fish). You get the feeling that this place is a real labour of love for Cliff and Tricia and they really put 100%...

Spears Cross is a beautiful old house which has been lovingly restored and enhanced by the owners (Cliff and Tricia). Our room was a good size, very clean, and well maintained. The ensuite shower room was spotless. Breakfasts are excellent with a lot of choice. The "full English" is a big meal if you select everything. The homemade bread is...

Spears Cross was built in 1460. It is one of the most atmospheric places to stay in Dunster. We have four generous sized rooms, comfortable lounge and a traditional linen tabled dining room. The quality of the beds, with 2262 springs, is what you would find in a good quality hotel. The bathrooms are crisp and we provide Penhaligon toiletries and fluffy bathrobes. Panasonic flat screen TV and a Bose sound system are for your relaxation. We use local produce and are breakfasts are famed. Bacon is especially cured for us and Orange Juice is freshly squeezed each morning. We have a tea selection of over 20 teas.
