Swinfen Hall Hotel is a magnificent Georgian manor house set in 100 acres of parkland incorporating formal gardens, a private deer park, wild hay meadows and woodland. Flatscreen TVs, DVD players, IPOD docking stations and free wi-fi are standard in all our bedrooms alongside bathrobes, mineral water, a good selection of guest amenities and a well-stocked hospitality tray. As well as our 3-rosette Four Seasons restaurant which is open for lunch and dinner, we have a Bar and Terrace menu for light snacks and offer a delicious traditional Afternoon Tea. We also have a magnificent oak-panelled Edwardian ballroom with a raised stage and fully-sprung dance floor, which is a wonderful venue for wedding receptions, presentations and private parties. We are proud to be an AA Inspectors Choice Red Star hotel - come and visit us and see what this means. Although a haven of peace and calm, Swinfen is just 30 minutes from Birmingham city centre, easily accessible via the M6, M42 and M6 toll road.

Having been in lockdown since March my wife and I were not looking forward to celebrating our 55 th wedding anniversary with only the 2 of us.However it was a very memorable night with the "Tasing menu' proving to be something treally special o remember. The Venison Tartare and the Cherry Hoisin Glazed Barbury Duck were exceptional However being on our own the evening was made even better by the very attentive and friendly l staff Bebiana and Stuart.. Also many thanks to management for arranging safe and comfortable seating in these difficult times ,we were able to relax easily We have some lovely pictures to pass on to family who sadly could not attend

My husband and I decided to have a night away as we are not allowed to visit family and friends. I phoned the hotel first and asked if we could go, under the new covid rules. They explained that all staff wear masks and we would have to wear ours a round the hotel. When we arrived we received a lovely welcome and shown to our room. ( all wearing masks and keeping a distance) The room was one of the best that I had stayed in. It had a sitting area, bedroom and big bathroom. Lovely views and was spotless. we also had tea, coffee and water. We had booked afternoon when I booked the hotel and mention some of my allergies. When we went for afternoon tea which was very tasty, they had taken on board my allergies. The waitress could not do enough for us. There was a bar area, which we had to ourselves that was very cosy. We had our evening meal there and breakfast which again both very tasty, We went for a walk round the beautiful grounds before leaving and they provided wellingtons for us. I would highly recommend this Hotel.I Felt totally safe.

My husband and I went to Swinfen hall for afternoon tea which was a voucher present for Christmas. This was our first outing since lockdown due to myself having asthma so very nervous going into a place with other people however the experience was totally Covid safe . The afternoon tea was very good different courses as well as the normal sandwiches and wonderful cakes. All the staff were brilliant very attentive nothing to much trouble. A very relaxing afternoon. Will definitely be going back.

We booked our family meal of up to17 people for a 3 course Sunday dinner. Booking was easy and communication was brilliant, there were many options to choose from with added extras such as Prosecco upon arrival for all guests. Me and my wife have been to Swinfen hall many times so I knew the standard of service was brilliant, and this time was no different. Staff were welcoming and the level of service was simply brilliant. There was an overall feeling that everyone there did their utmost to make sure the day ran perfect. The food is always delicious, I had prawn cocktail to start which I could have kept eating, the sauce was perfect sat on crisp lettuce with meaty prawns. Roast beef for dinner was amazing, cooked medium rare, the cut of the beef was divine, just melted upon the touch of the knife, Yorkshire pudding was home made and tasted perfect, the vegetables alongside were fresh sweet tasting. For Pudding I opted for salted caramel and chocolate torte, A very rich pudding which concluded the high standard of food perfectly. Coffee was served alongside a home made orange Turkish delight sweet. The maître d was brilliant, funny and really welcoming, made our day special and I personally thank you for your hard work, you coordinated the meal service and drinks perfectly. Our special day was celebrated at the best possible place, we cannot wait to return again! Thank you.

We had a three night stay. The hotel is described in an earlier part of this site and all that needs to be said is that it is a fair description! Our bedroom was substantial (and luxurious) by British standards although if you are at all infirm you might like to try a room on the first floor rather than the second. The grounds are beautiful and with the garden background it is not surprising that it is in demand for weddings. The restaurant had a limited dinner menu (probably because of the plague!) and the food was a little too "nouvelle cuisine" for our taste. We sorted this out simply by eating in the very pleasant and opulent bar and I would thoroughly recommend the steak and chips. The breakfast was very good. The hotel has been faced with the Covid problem and the impossibility of dealing with a silly government but they seem to be coping very well. All the staff without exception were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. The hotel is situated only about a 10 minute drive from Lichfield which is worth visiting - particularly for Samuel Johnson's house and the truly magnificent cathedral. It is also fairly close to the National Memorial Arboretum which is an awesome place, magnificent and moving at the same time. Two final points. We booked at a rate that was not the best and I got a telephone call before we went from the hotel to say tell us thus and they transferred us to the best rate. This was exceptionally honest of them and I would like to record this. And a minor point - it is an old building and the run of the water pipes to rooms is apparently quite long and it takes a short while to get hot water. This is not a problem provided one knows which is the hot tap. The taps are not clearly marked and stupid people like me can run the cold tap on the same side as in my house to find out eventually that it doesn’t work. I would suggest that a blog of red could usefully be applied to the hot tap! I But thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel.
