This is a great hotel - from the moment you sweep up the drive through parkland and the automatic gates swing open, to the moment they shut behind you, you'll be pampered and well looked after. On parking a valet will come and collect your luggage, escort you to reception and then on to your room. Fine dining available including...

Stayed here as I was having a meeting nearby the following day. Found on Google. Swinfen Hall is a gorgeous hotel. I arrived in the early evening in the rain, and the house was beautifully lit up. Immediately one of the staff came out and helped me in with my bags. The hotel itself is a lovely, impressive old manor...

Dear KatieCM, Thank you so much for the review you posted which I took great pleasure in reading. We do work very hard at getting those little things just right and it is really great to have them recognised. I have taken note of the salad which you mentioned being small, as well as the slight delay with the Eggs...

I was really looking forward to our afternoon tea, a treat from generous friends. I had never been to Swinfen Hall before. From the moment the house appeared as we drove towards it, I knew we were approaching somewhere special. The ethos of the hotel was quiet and refined. The interior was plush with lovely period features. We were seated...

We attended a friends wedding here at the weekend and I'm pleased to say it very nice indeed. Fabulous traditional decor & beautiful grounds. The food was delicious too and what I'm presuming was the house wine was a very nice drop. The bar had a fair selection on tap with more ales available in the fridges. Prices could have...

We stayed for one night as attended a wedding there. Everything was lovely but I thought a little overpriced. Food and service at the wedding was stunning and a good selection for breakfast. The room was nice but not overly big and looked out onto the drive which was actually very quiet.

We have been to this establishment's restaurant on a few occasions and though on the expensive side have loved the food and service. However this time we can honestly say we have never had worse food anywhere. None of the tastes went together, portions were very small and the only plus side were the wonderful staff who you could not...

Dear Tamworth Tiger Thank you for the review you posted following your recent visit for a meal. I do appreciate your very kind comments in relation to the staff and service but I was disappointed to learn that you felt so let down by the food. This an area that we have worked very hard on in recent years and...

Love it, from Georgian facade to egg shell blue decor, fluffy towels, warm welcome, creaky floowboards, huge beds, home made shortbread, and now the wifi actually works, this is excellent! One minor improvment would be to enlarge the bar menu a little. The fish and chips is excellent, the steak also good ( not so keen on the wild mushroom...

After the impressive drive up to the hotel the front door was opened for us by a lovely staff member and this set the whole tone of our stay. The decor inside was fabulous and our room-The Goldsmith room-was immaculate, comfortable with a great view of the drive. The bed was super comfy, we loved the little parcel of shortbreads...

We had afternoon tea here with my daughter, who was spending two nights at Swinfen Hall, having come for our 25th wedding anniversary celebrations. I have to say that the staff were very friendly, helpful and personable, and we had no problems having coffee in one of the lounges. It is an impressive looking place, with large grounds for long...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Swinfen Hall Hotel is a beautiful Georgian manor house set in 100 acres of parkland incorporating formal gardens, a private deer park, wild hay meadows and woodland. Although the hotel has been described as 'an architectural gem' and is blessed with a wealth of historic features, we also embrace the creature comforts of the here and now. Flatscreen TVs, DVD players, IPOD docking stations and free wi-fi are standard in all our bedrooms alongside bathrobes, mineral water, a good selection of guest amenities and a well-stocked hospitality tray. In addition to our AA 2-rosette Four Seasons restaurant which is open for lunch and dinner, we have a Bar and Terrace menu for light snacks and offer a delicious traditional Afternoon Tea. We also have a magnificent oak-paneled Edwardian ballroom with a raised stage and fully-sprung dance floor, which is a wonderful venue for wedding receptions, presentations and private parties. We are proud to be an AA Inspectors Choice Red Star hotel - come and visit us and see what this means. Our little oasis of peace and calm lies on the A38, two miles south of the historic city of Lichfield, ½ a mile from the M6 toll road and only 20 minutes from the heart of Birmingham. ... more   less
