The building itself looks stunning from the outside, but a considerable amount of money needs to be spent internally to be brought up to a decent standard. Room was tired, shabby and dated. The TV had no remote and was one of the old style (pre flat-screen, pre-wide screen). £55 for room with no breakfast was overpriced. Disappointing to say...

Good points: It was next to the station. Bad Points: On arriving there was no electricity in the room before I realised you had to throw a master switch for anything to work. Once this was done I could see the room in all of its beauty! The bathroom was a nice size but there was a strange brown smear...

I was visiting my daughter at Staffs and this hotel enabled us to commute between the uni and hotel within a few minutes. It's dated, but I find that charming and have no problems with it. The rooms are very comfortable, but the walls are paper thin be warned! The en-suite was adequate, unfortunately the miniature bubble bath left me...

Old, tired in need of total refurbishment. We had two rooms booked for this visit, the top floor room we had smelt of years of stale cigarettes. The window was permanantly open and spraying the room with deoderant made no difference. In my opinion smoking should be banned in all bedrooms. The second room was on first floor and faced...

This place was great. It started when we opened the door and were greeted with an interesting smell - think an entire can of air freshener mixed with the sweet aroma of three hundred smokers attempting some sort of 'smoke-off'. It was amazing. After a while (about three seconds) we decided to change the air and opened the window, and...

We arrived at this Britannia hotel in the early evening, having booked B&, a three course dinner, and free bottle of wine for £54 for two. The carpeting and some of the decor was tired in places (hence a four star rating), but the service was exceptional in the extreme. My diet is rather restricted and there was no main...

I stayed at this hotel back in 2014 for 2 weeks and honestly I couldn't fault it in any way. The staff were friendly and welcoming. As I flew in from Sydney Australia and arrived many hours before I could check in, the staff were brilliant. I was able to store my luggage and they even allowed me to take...

Staff very friendly and helpful. Stayed here en-route whilst walking from Birmingham to Manchester. They allowed us to drop supplies off before we stayed and we're great whilst we were there. I had a HUGE room. Very clean. Lovely.

Avoid this hotel at all costs! We used it for 2 nights whilst visiting Alton Towers. The outside is looks nothing like the internet pictures, its tired and dirty. The reception staff were unhelpful. We had to change rooms as we had booked a family room and one wasn't available, so the first night we had a double room with...
