Excellent COVID measures in place. Room was spotless tea and coffee facilities still available with ceramic cups and metal spoons ! Clean towels available on request. Having just spent 2 nights in an increadbly expensive spa hotel that only gave us paper cups and plastic spoons and a room looking onto the side of a marquee only 12 feet away, this premier inn at less than a third of the price was much nicer and much better value I would highly recommend it.

We have just returned from a three night stay at this hotel, and can only say how much we enjoyed it. The location is fantastic, being central, and only a few minutes walk to all attractions. The rooms are spacious and light with large windows. I’d asked for a top floor room with a bit of a view, and that’s exactly what we got. The bathroom could maybe have benefitted from a bit of attention, but this didn’t detract from our stay. We never heard any noise at all from other rooms or the corridor. Bear in mind that at present, cleaners do not enter the rooms during your stay, but extra supplies of towels, pillows and tea and coffee are readily available. The breakfast in the Thyme restaurant was very good, with hot items cooked to order. Sophia the PI receptionist deserves a special mention, as she has a nice helpful way with her, as well as being efficient. All in all, one of the best Premier Inns we have stayed in.

A comfortable, very clean and spacious room. The mattress and pillows were extremely comfortable and enabled a great nights sleep. There was only 2 pillows on the double bed, but we quickly got another 2 delivered to our room.

We were in a ground floor room which only had a curtain (no net). So, for most of the time we were in the room during day-light hours, we had the curtains drawn and the lights on, as anyone walking passed would be able to see us otherwise.

The free WIFI is okay but does drop out regularly.

There is air conditioning (of sorts) in the rooms of this hotel. However, we needed to ask the Duty Manager to 'reset' our room. He did this immediately upon request and commented that the system did show our room as being 27C !!

Also as advertised, due to Covid-19, housekeeping do not attend the rooms on a daily basis, but clean towels, extra tea/coffee etc are available from reception.

The hotel is in a great location, very near to the town centre, St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Ickworth and Melford Hall.

We chose to have the meal deal at the onsite restaurant. Although some food items were unavailable, there was still plenty to choose from, and everything we chose was very tasty.

The breakfast is back to buffet style and that worked fine.

We stayed at the Premier Inn in Bury St Edmunds for 2 nights in November but were disappointed with our stay. We are usually pleased with this chain of hotel but this one had many faults.
Plus points: it was in the centre of town with ample parking, in a very quiet area and the rooms were comfortable.
First gripe, the automatic check-in wouldn’t work and we found many other guests encountered this problem during our stay. A receptionist on the desk had to check us in.
Second gripe, we were not officially told to key in the registration number of our car in a keypad behind us in reception. As the hotel used an open car park, if we didn’t register our car number plate, we could get a parking ticket. Thankfully, another member of staff told us to do this.
As I said, the room was comfortable. It was a functional room with limited hanging space for clothes but there were plenty of mirrors, sockets in the right place, tea & coffee making facilities, hair dryer, tv but no room phone. There was also a large settee which I assume converts into another bed if you had children with you. The bathroom was fine with shower over the bath, soap supplied in dispensers, nice large bath towels.
Breakfast was good with a good selection of hot and cold buffet and at a reasonable cost.
Third and most miserable gripe we encountered was after we returned to our room following a full day out. We saw that the room had not been made up at all. When we complained to reception we were told that rooms are no longer made up unless you booked for this the night before. We asked for some fresh towels and a top up of tea and coffee but that was that. No room cleaned, no cups washed, no beds made, no bathroom cleaned or supplies replenished for your stay unless you pre-ordered it the night before. We were not told of this when we made our booking or when we checked in. So, we had to do it all ourselves – but they were happy to charge the full room rate. I felt this was very poor service.
Also with our room (Room 20), the bathroom fan was very inefficient so the bathroom got very steamy after a shower. Plus, the air conditioning in the bedroom wouldn’t turn off. When we mentioned this to reception they told us that you need to turn the bathroom light off otherwise it confuses the air con system. What a sad state of affairs and you can’t blame any of that on Covid! All in all, it wasn’t an enjoyable stay and I would not stay at this Premier Inn again in the future unless they change their procedure

Having had problems elsewhere I took the time to call the hotel to ensure a wet room was available for my husband who has mobility problems and is unable to step into a bath and i was told by the very helpful receptionist that it was but when we arrived we had a room with a shower over the low bath that he could not use - the room we had wanted and thought we were getting was only available for our second night - staff did offer to move us for the second night but my husband didn’t want to make a fuss. The hotel felt very Covid19 secure and all staff were adhering to the guidelines and we did feel safe.
Whilst we appreciate that changes have to be made to comply with Covid19 guidance ....
The bags of tea/ coffee etc were a little sparse.
We had to ask for extra pillows as only 2 in the room.
We couldn’t enjoy the breakfast as we had in the past (we have stayed with Premier Inn numerous times) as we had to ask for every single item as no self service and I guess we felt a bit self conscious about keep asking - our waistlines were happy though.
I am happy to report that Covid19 has not affected the comfortableness ( if that’s a word) of the beds and we slept well and the room was cosy and comfortable.
The TV worked ok but was very slow as was the WiFi which I paid £5 for and couldn’t use at all. Have only just realised that the payment went through as it wasn’t obvious at the time. All the staff we met were lovely and this hotel is ideally situated.

Stayed for four nights, self, wife and son. Although there was a perfectly adequate single bed in our double room, this was only available to book for family members up to 15 years old. We therefore had to book a second double room for our son who is older than that, doubling the cost of our stay. The bookings were made at the same time and we would have preferred adjacent or at least close rooms but we were on different floors.

The room was clean and comfortable. To be made up during our stay we would have had to request this each time from reception. In the bathroom, there wasn't a toilet brush. I believe one should be in every bathroom. Both rooms had air conditioning which was reasonably quiet in operation but in our room, 29, switching on the bathroom light triggered a fan that made very loud and rattling disturbing noises in the bedroom.

Tea and coffee was provided in the rooms and replenishments were obtained on request from reception. There needs to be a more adaptable way of getting these, say by being given more tea bags as we ended up with lots of caffeinated coffee and milk that we didn't want and not enough tea bags or decaf coffees.

The breakfast was adequate and we'd have liked a better variety of cereals. Car parking is free and easy to access in an open area behind the hotel.

Access to the centre or into park areas is convenient and makes the most of the location.

The staff throughout the hotel were friendly & efficient. Our room number 31 was clean & contained all that was required for a short break. The air conditioning in our bedroom was excellent. The TV as expected was freeview only. There was ample wardrobe & drawer space for our clothes. The bathroom contained all toiletries required for our stay.
The only downside to our room 31 which is one floor above the ground floor is that the room immediately overlooked a car park offering absolutely no privacy & so we had to close the main curtains to dress & to undress.
The hotel is in a very quiet location & its only a short walk into town.
Breakfast is served to you at your allocated table & contains everything offered previously if like us we opted for the full English breakfast. However we did notice that the portion sizes were very small, (to save money due to previous lockdown). You help yourself to toast & coffee following the one way system.
Saying all this we would still recommend staying here for a short break.

We stayed at the Premier Inn Bury St Edmunds, because of its convenient location just off the A14 and close to where our friends live in Diss, as we had travelled from our home in the Midlands to visit them for their anniversary.
The hotel was easy to find on the sat nav and Bury St Edmunds is fairly easy to navigate around. The issue was as we arrived late, the section of the A14 was closed for road works, so we had to go via the town. The hotel is located right next to a large Tesco for food and fuel and the hotel has a well-lit car park to the front and a Starbucks on site for coffee and snacks.
The hotel itself is modern and probably the best Premier Inn we have stayed at, it was spotlessly clean inside and out, and accessible to disabled with lifts to all floors. The staff were welcoming and pleasant and check in was quick. Our room which was 123 on the first floor was a good size for a family room, had aircon and purple mood lighting, and was spotless, and well appointed. The shower was a good size and had two heads a rainfall head and a conventional head. The room had plenty of storage and long windows with a view in our case over the car park.
On the ground floor, was a hotel style foyer with seating and a nice airy and welcoming atmosphere, there was also a bar and a restaurant. We didn’t use the bar/restaurant as we were late getting to the hotel due to leaving the midlands early evening, but the menu looked good and competitively priced. I also noticed you could have 24/7 pizza and there was a menu and advertising card in the room. The room was lovely and comfortable, and we all enjoyed a good night’s sleep after a long drive.
My only complaint is Premier Inn only gave us one coffee and one tea, which was a shame as I had to get some more (which were freely given by staff) but it’s the first time you haven’t had a little caddy which was well stocked.
I would definitely stay again without hesitation it was a lovely hotel and thank you for all you did to make our stay so good.

We stayed over night after me having an operation at BMI hospital around the corner. This is BY FAR the best Premier Inn we’ve stayed in and we’ve been to a LOT of PI all overt the country!

They allowed my wife and daughter to check in and get settled shortly after 10am at no extra charge otherwise they would have had nowhere else to go while I was in for my Surgery.

The receptionist helped my wife and daughter up to our room which wouldn’t normally happen at any other premier inn.

The building was absolutely amazing and quiet and the same receptionist asked my wife how I was feeling after my operation.

We can’t thank the hotel enough for not only a very clean room but also for the level of customer service.

WITHOUT A DOUBT we will be coming back to this hotel once I’m fully recovered from my operation to have couple of days out around the lovely town of Bury St Edmunds and check out the history of the town!
5 star quality service from check in to check out!

I couldn’t recommend this hotel enough to friends, family and strangers hoping to get away in this lovely town! 5 stars from beginning to end!

Clean hotel with good sized rooms.
Free parking, which is good.
Not able to comment on the food as not available due to COVID 19.
However the free internet is a joke!!!
They try to anoy you as much as possible by only allowing 1Mbs and cutting you off so that you have to re sign in every 8 to 10 minutes which for conference purposes is just not acceptable.
So free WiFi isn't really free as they force you to upgrade to a £5 a day tariff. You can't even play online games due to it resetting every 8 minutes.
The beds are have memory foam on top so if you are a hot sleeper you may find that you overheat (a known feature of memory foam mattresses )
Only two thin pillows supplied on the bed so you have to ask for maybe one or two more.
Overall... bearly average as a hotel.
Will probably stop using this chain as Internet is paramount in my decision on where I stay.
However if its not important to you you will probably have a pleasant stay.
The location is excellent with local pubs and restaurants within a five minute walk.
