This is a charming old hotel, with all the modern faciilties you need. It is in the centre of Woodbridge, in walking distance of several fine restaurants and the river. The bar downstairs serves a good range of beers. We went very soon after lockdown and everything was fine.
We weren't staying - but popped in for Sunday lunch - and it was amazing. Possibly the biggest tasty roast & trimmings ever, with a side of cauliflower cheese chucked in. And a beautiful refurbishment of the venue during lock-down. Highly recommended.
My husband and I booked to stay here for our wedding anniversary weekend. It was the weekend after coming out of lockdown 2.0, so we had no idea what to expect. From the moment we got there, the staff made us feel very welcome and covid safe. The room was spotless - it was clear that it had been thoroughly cleaned. The room and ensuite were a good size, with a fantastic view of the market square. The hotel is full of character, with exposed beams, carved woodwork and other visual quirks you'd expect to see in a building of this age and history. The open fire in the bar was welcoming, especially at this time of year, making it feel very relaxing and cosy. The breakfast choice was very good, the full English was excellent; ample without being too much and the porridge with caramelised banana was very tasty. Martin who served us both mornings went out of his way to make sure we were well catered for, he was friendly and helpful and made us feel completely at home. All the staff were accommodating and friendly, and made us feel comfortable throughout our stay, in spite of these strange, restricted times. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Woodbridge, hopefully without the masks! …
We booked the Four Poster room at very short notice for my wife's birthday and had a lovely stay. The Four Poster room is a very good size and has both a very comfy bed and sofa. The bathroom is spacious and the room nicely decorated. The hotel had only just re-opened the day before following lockdown 2.0 and they were very well organised and everywhere felt Covid secure. We had a lovely meal, lamb shank for me and veggie en croute for my wife. It was raining when we arrived and snowing the next morning so we did not get a chance to explore Woodbridge however we still had a great stay at The Bull.
We stayed for one night at this hotel as a break from the COVID fiasco. Lovely old building, sloping floors, beams and winding stairways. Our room, though small, was clean and adequate. COVID requirements were met. Dinner in the restaurant was pleasant and the food was good, I had the sausages, which were delicious. The hotel position is fine for browsing all the quaint shops, there is even a violin maker’s workshop! We highly recommend Woodbridge for a mini break and The Bull is recommended!
