My friend bought a birthday treat - Champagne afternoon tea. We were delayed in getting there as my friend broke her foot but Ross Boyle Manager kindly extended the date. We had afternoon tea with perfectly chilled champagne. Daughters had cheese and herb omelette & fries and ham, eggs and chips which was all perfect. Hot chocolate drinks were ideal...

A lovely place to stay. Easy walking distance from the train station. Very nice breakfast. Didn't eat there in the evening but the aroma was good. The room was nice but quite tight for space. Overall I would stay there again. It's position is very good for walking to shops or down by the river

To start: staff are friendly and I do understand that this is not their fault. We stayed in the Presidential Suite last night and the shower was broken with very little pressure. Shower wall also had bright green gel on wall from previous occupants. We checked in at 3pm and had to have a quick turn around and leave at...

This was ment to a birthday treat and was disappointed ,it looks the part downstairs and on arrival but too was a letdown. the room was not up to the price payed. The continental breakfast looked poor in presentation and very small plates like a saucer for food so crumbs went all over on the table every where. There where...

Arriving at the Vermont it looked lovely from the outside and even in the lobby was nicely decorated and looked the part outside was a really nice rolls Royce and Ferrari. When we got to our room we noticed there were paint covers up on the walls where someone has filled holes in and then painted over which just looked...

We were treated to a stay at the Vermont Hotel, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, though rather warm, (sorted by turning down the thermostat) the bed comfortable and it was so nice to have the choice of bath or shower in the very clean bathroom. The Vermont Breakfast the next morning was very substantial, hot...

Excellent location. Right in the heart of Newcastle, just a couple of mins walk to the quayside. Very expensive hotel for what it is. Don't get me wrong it is a nice quality and a good standard but for what you pay its just now value for money. The bedrooms are very small, you get much more space in a...

This week my husband and I were visiting the castle when I saw the Redwoodbar at the back of the Vermont hotel and remembered that I had enjoyed a very good afternoon tea there on previous occassions. We popped in and explained that we were going to see the castle and could we book for an hour's time. This was...

Have stayed in many 4 star hotels and all very good including this one but the breakfast choice at The Vermont let it down, cooked breakfast ok but not much on offer on the buffet table and not displayed very well, very basic, not tempting. Very disappointing.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Few hotels can boast a more enviable city centre postcode than the Vermont Hotel, for this imposing structure is located in the heart of the City of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, not only next to the Castle Keep and opposite the historic Moot Hall, but also just two minutes from Newcastle's Central Station. Combining old character in the form of 1930s grandeur with contemporary elegance and four-star luxury, the landmark building is your base from which to discover the many bars, shops and attractions of the town centre and wider area. Look outside your window and you might see such sights as the River Tyne, Millennium Bridge or stunning cathedral, and it's not the only mark of the sheer inspiration of the Vermont Hotel experience. That's because the reasons for the hotel's reputation become clear with a stay in any one of its sophisticated bedrooms, which are finished in soft relaxing colours while also coming with a wealth of facilities for your pleasure and comfort, including - among others - private en-suite bathrooms, a mini bar and free Internet access. ... more   less
